Brilliant BMW Championship Tips: Fedex Cup Play-Offs 2024

BMW Championship Tips

This year’s BMW Championship takes place in Colorado with the picturesque Castle Pines Golf Club hosting a PGA Tour event for the first time in almost two decades – read on for our expect BMW Championship tips from The Racing Post. It is the penultimate tournament of the FedEx Cup Playoffs with only the top 50 in the standings after last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championships being eligible to play.

BMW Championship Tips: Expert Tips

There is again $20 million in prizemoney to be won and no halfway cut, but the pressure will be squarely on the players’ shoulders given that only the top 30 in the rankings on Sunday evening will move on to the even more lucrative Tour Championship at East Lake. Scottie Scheffler heads the betting as he seeks an eighth title of 2024 with Xander Schauffele, who finished tied for second at TPC Southwind last Sunday, among the other leading contenders this week.

BMW Championship Tips: Mighty Morikawa

Collin Morikawa has demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout 2024 despite not securing a win since the Zozo Championship last October. The 27-year-old Californian has accumulated seven top-10 finishes and placed in the top 25 in 15 of the 19 events he has contested this year. Morikawa’s game is well suited to the challenging course at Castle Pines. His strengths, which are based around accurate driving and solid tee-to-green play, align perfectly with the qualities needed to excel on this tree-lined track.

And while not the longest hitter on tour, Morikawa’s iron play is good enough to give him birdie chances on longer par-four holes after an altitude-assisted drive. The American’s joint-third place finish at the Masters earlier this year bodes well for Castle Pines, which is often likened to Augusta National in terms of set-up and appearance.. Morikawa almost clinched victory at The Memorial on another Jack Nicklaus-designed course earlier this year.

His ability to navigate tree-lined courses was evident in his first major win at TPC Harding Park in 2020, when he successfully avoided the punishing cypress trees. A similar strategy of staying on the straight and narrow could lead him to victory at Castle Pines.

BMW Championship Tips: Roaring Rai

Aaron Rai another tee-to-green specialist to make our shortlist of BMW Championship Tips, on the back of his breakthrough success earlier this month across the pond. The Englishman ranks seventh in strokes gained in this area, sixth in strokes gained on approach, and third in greens in regulation.

Rai also tops the tour charts for driving accuracy, suggesting he will be in his element at the tree-lined layout of Castle Pines. After struggling with his putting earlier this year, the Englishman has shown significant improvement since working with a new coach, culminating in a tie for second place at the Detroit Golf Club and a top-10 finish in the John Deere Classic.

BMW Championship Tips: Rapid Big Bob

Robert MacIntyre has experienced a remarkable year, highlighted by his emotional Canadian Open victory with his father as caddie. He followed that with a victory at the Scottish Open in front of his home crowd. Currently 12th in the FedEx Cup standings, MacIntyre continued his strong form with a seventh-place finish at the St. Jude Championship last week. There, he opened with a solid 67 and a closer study of his recent tournament form shows his propensity to make fast starts.

The Scotsman was the first-round leader at the Myrtle Beach Classic in May and carded the  fifth-best opening-round score at the US PGA, when he went on to finish tied for eighth place. His victory at the Canadian Open came after he opened with the fourth-best score, so there is a good case for the 28-year-old carding the best round of the day on Thursday.
