Dave Chisnall: Two QF Near Misses, June 7th 2026

It was a bit of mixed emotions about this week’s results, because whilst two quarter-finals on the surface looks like a good week, I arguably should have done a lot better and had a very realistic chance of getting my hands on a trophy for the first time in almost 2 years.

To be honest, I wasn’t even playing my best darts, when getting to Tuesday’s quarter-finals I was 2-0 up to William O’Connor and sat on a finish when he took out 134 with T18-40-40 in a pretty tasty finish to go 2-1 down, and then went onto win 6-3. Those sort of legs really knock the stuffing out of you, and it gave him the momentum to go out and see it through.

Dave Chisnall: Euro Tour Update

WIlliam played great to get to the final, but I can’t help feel it was an opportunity mixed, the same as last week’s Euro Tour the weekend before. I was 5-1 up playing the Dutch sensation Gian Van Veen, this year’s most recent World Championship runner-up, and should have seen the game out pretty comfortably from there.

He rallied however, winning four legs on the spin and sending it to a deciding leg. The really good players have gears and are able to find different levels when needed – and that’s what he did in Kiel. I am rarely one to pat myself on the back, but I played well to get through to the Quarter-Finals by winning that last leg.

From there it was a bit of a disaster. I played shocking against Ryan Joyce, with an average of about 85, and wasn’t just my finishing that was poor. It was everything. Ryan, a bit like William then in the week, went onto lose in the final and I can’t help but feel it was a big opportunity to secure my place at next month’s World Matchplay in Blackpool.

Dave Chisnall: Dreaming of Blackpool

The top 16 in the World and then the top 16 in the Pro Tour Order of Merit make it to the Winter Gardens, and by my workings I need another 6k to secure my place in this year’s Matchplay. There are four Pro Tour events and one more Euro Tour event later this month in Slovakia. It will obviously be dependant on how those who are around us in the Order of Merit fair too, but I think I can make it with one or two good performances. It would mean the world to me to get back on that Blackpool stage and make up for the disaster  there in 2024.
