Grand Slam of Darts 2024: 4 x Huge Quarter-Final Tips

Grand Slam of Darts 2024

Just eight players will remain in the Grand Slam of Darts 2024 at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton when planet darts awakes on Friday morning – and a former world champion will be the main attraction in the evening.

Grand Slam of Darts 2024: 4 x Huge QF Tips

Rob Cross defeated Phil Taylor 7-2 in the final of the 2018 World Championship and now Voltage faces Martin Lukeman in the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam.

Grand Slam of Darts 2024: High Voltage

Cross served up a finishing masterclass in his last-16 destruction of Ritchie Edhouse on Wednesday night and Voltage is strongly fancied to progress to the semi-finals of the Grand Slam. Cross took out checkouts of 164, 160 and 110 in a ruthless display of finishing which left recent European Championship winner Edhouse bewildered.

A 10-4 victory has propelled Cross into the quarter-finals and the Kent-born tungsten tickler looks a huge title threat. Cross lost in the final of last year’s Grand Slam, suffering at the hands of an exceptional Luke Humphries, but the defending champ has already been knocked out of this year’s competition.

Cross will be sensing his opportunity to go one better than 12 months ago and it is difficult to imagine Lukeman having the tools to stop him on Friday night. Expect Cross to get the best-of-31-legs match wrapped up fairly quickly. Under 27.5 legs in the match looks a solid investment, given Cross should rapidly build a comfortable lead, and a 16-11 victory or better (for either player) would mean a successful wager.

Grand Slam of Darts 2024: Mighty Menzies

If Cross gets to the semi-finals of the Grand Slam, it seems likely that Cameron Menzies will be his opponent. Menzies has finally taken his floor form to a televised event and the Scot is fancied to make short work of Mickey Mansell in their quarter-final meeting. Menzies is well known as a great darting talent by his peers, who have seen him produce incredible averages on a regular basis in non-televised floor events on the circuit.

However, the part-time arrowsmith, who also works as a plumber, has struggled in the past to do himself justice on the biggest stages. A 10-9 victory over James Wade in the last-16, though, could be a coming-of-age moment for Menzies. He bravely saw off Wade and can do likewise to the limited Mansell.  Under 27.5 legs seems a solid wager in anticipation of a cosy Menzies success.
