Michael van Gerwen is the reigning and defending champion at the Dutch Darts Masters in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, but it’s newly-crowned world champion Luke Littler who is the favourite to land the glory at Maaspoort Den Bosch.
Dutch Masters 2025: The Bullet to Fire in Holland
The Dutch Darts Masters is the second of seven qualifying events in the 2025 World Series, a series which culminates in the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam in September. The first event – the Bahrain Masters – was held last week and saw Stephen Bunting triumph, beating Gerwyn Price 8-4 in the final. Bunting is 7.35 with Kwiff to go back-to-back in the Netherlands where an even stronger field is assembled than last week.
The 16-player tournament features eight of the PDC’s very top stars up against eight players from the Netherlands and Belgium, a high-class octet of Lowlands aces including major winners Dimitri van den Bergh, Danny Noppert and Raymond van Barneveld.
Dutch Masters 2025: All eyes on The Nuke
The Dutch crowd will naturally be cheering on their home-grown stars with Barney and Van Gerwen always massively popular whenever they toe the oche on home soil. But rest assured the thousands who turn up at Maaspoort Den Bosch on January 24 and 25 will be desperate to see one man in particular and that, of course, is Luke Littler.
The recently turned 18-year-old phenomenon capped a stunning debut year earlier this month by being crowned world champion for the first time, defeating Van Gerwen in the final. He is a headline maker all over the world, though given all the media attention the teenager has had to cope with over the past couple of weeks, maybe it was no surprise that he did not justify favouritism in Bahrain. Despite an average of over 105 in his second-round match against Price, he suffered a 6-2 loss and looked like a player who needed a break.
Dutch Masters 2025: Cool Hand Ready to Fire
Littler has had a few days off but is still a warm order at 2.40 to win the Dutch Masters, ahead of his biggest rival, Luke Humphries. Humphries is the world No.1 but getting squeezed out of the headlines by the remarkable Littler and that might not be sitting pretty with Cool Hand.
Humphries was naturally hugely disappointed to crash out to Peter Wright in the World Championship and wanted to make a statement in Bahrain. Instead, he could only pip Nathan Aspinall 6-5 and then lost 7-6 to Bunting in the semi-finals. For all that, Humphries’ class can never be doubted and if he is in the mood, he can make a nonsense of his 3.65 outright odds.

Third in the betting is Van Gerwen at 5.75. The Dutchman shrugging off a poor year by his standards to reach the final at Alexandra Palace and, having skipped Bahrain, itn will be interesting to see how he goes in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
Other big stars in the field include Price (7.35), Aspinall (15.30) and Rob Cross (15.30), while it would be an emotional weekend should Van Barneveld defy age, form and the odds to lift the trophy. At 80.0, however, it clearly isn’t expected by many.
