FA Cup Tips: Huge 5th Round Fancies

FA Cup final best bets

The FA Cup takes centre stage again this weekend, with teams battling it out for a spot in the quarter-finals across eight games and we’ve got 4 exclusive FA Cup Tips for punters at kwiff.

FA Cup Tips: Huge 5th Round Fancies

Plymouth managed to dump out Liverpool in the fourth round and have been rewarded with a blockbuster clash against Manchester City, who were runners-up last season. Elsewhere there are a pair of derbies to start Saturday’s action as Preston host Burnley and Millwall visit Crystal Palace.

FA Cup Tips: Spicy Affair

The Lancashire derby between Preston and Burnley looks likely to be particularly heated in this cup clash after the pair played out a tempestuous 0-0 draw in the league recently. Liam Lindsay did not feature in that game and has been usurped in the central defensive pecking order by Ryan Porteous. However the on-loan Porteous is cup-tied so Lindsay is likely to return.

The defender has picked up seven yellow cards and two reds in 20 Championship starts and referee John Brookes has the second-highest average of cards dished out per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season, 5.42. Lindsay could be the latest to pick one up here.

FA Cup Tips: Lions Tamed

Crystal Palace have won seven of their last nine games in all competitions and should be able to carry on that strong form against rivals Millwall in this cup tie. The Lions are in midtable in the Championship and may struggle against this Premier League opposition. A high-scoring affair looks unlikely as 11 of Palace’s last 12 games have featured less than four goals, and they should be able to grind out a solid victory over their rivals.

FA Cup Tips: Cherry Ripe

Wolves picked up a crucial win over Bournemouth in the Premier League recently but they look unlikely to repeat the trick in this FA Cup tie. The Cherries had to play the majority of that game with 10 men and with a level playing field, should be able to get the better of these opponents.

Wolves have lost 17 of their 27 league games and have benefited from playing two Championship sides in their previous two FA Cup games. Bournemouth are a significant step up on Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers and are fancied to progress with a win.

FA Cup Tips: Might Miley

Newcastle’s midfield looks likely to be rotated for their clash on Sunday against Brighton after Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali looked like they were suffering from fatigue in the midweek defeat to Liverpool. Lewis Miley is the obvious replacement and has impressed since returning from injury. He has three shots on target in three starts this season and could add to that tally at St James’ Park.
