F1 Season 2025: Hamilton at Ferrari
Ten teams and 20 drivers will take part in the 2025 world championship, with the betting suggesting this season’s competition could be the most competitive for years. Max Verstappen is chasing down a fifth straight drivers’ title with Red Bull, though he had to work hard to fend off Lando Norris in the autumn and the Briton, still with McLaren, is expected to challenge the Dutchman once again.
And then there is the new star-studded Ferrari pairing of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, has joined the most iconic name in motor sport after 12 stunningly successful seasons with Mercedes. Now aged 40 and coming up against more and more young, fearless talent on the grid with every passing season, Hamilton still believes he has one last hurrah in him; but can Ferrari give him the car to deliver?
F1 Season 2025: Young Guns Primed
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has naturally attracted plenty of headlines over the winter, but there’s another story which is going to make for compelling viewing. A winter of huge changes in the pit lane mean that there are a handful of young newcomers – or relative newcomers – champing at the bit to ruffle the feathers of their seniors.
Australia’s Jack Doohan, 22, and England’s Oliver Bearman, 19, managed four starts between them in 2024 and they will suit up for Alpine and Haas respectively this year. But Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto, 20, Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, 18, and Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar, 20, will be green to go for the first time in Australia as they look to make their mark. It’s just another ingredient in what promises to be an absolutely unmissable year of cut-throat, fast-paced, high-drama F1 action.
