Sometimes advertisements are just not for you, or they can get a bit tiring, we understand! In order to help you out customising your social media ad preferences effortlessly and say goodbye to unwanted content we’ve created this post.
This is how you can tailor your ad experience on the most used social platforms out there:
– Block unwanted ads by simply blocking the advertiser’s Facebook account, this could be Kwiff’s Facebook Account or any other account you wish to block advertisements from.
– Utilise Facebook Ad Preferences to manage your ad experiences on both Facebook and Instagram. You will find this under the Settings & Privacy tab on your profile.
– Hide specific ads or block all ads from a particular advertiser, this can be done once you receive a specific ad, you can either hide a Facebook ad or hide all ads from that profile being advertised. For the first option, you simply have to click Hide Ad on the advertisement, for the second option, you simply click on ‘’Why am I seeing this?’’ and follow with clicking on ‘’Hide all ads from this advertiser’’.
Instagram follows the same pattern as Facebook, so you can follow similar steps to control the advertisements being served to you.
– You can block Instagram accounts to stop them from advertising to you.
– Hide or report individual ads based on your preferences.
– Adjust your ad topic preferences and see fewer ads on topics you’re not interested in, to do so just go to the top right corner of your profile and follow the path: Press Settings & Privacy > Accounts Center > Ad Preferences > Ad Topics.
– Finally, your browser pattern can also affect your ad preferences. To change that, you have the option of excluding yourself from viewing ads that are tailored based on your browsing data within your device settings. This will change the pattern and content of the ads being delivered to your Instagram account.
X (previously Twitter)
– Block X accounts to prevent them from showing ads to you, this can obviously include Kwiff’s X account as well, if you wish to do so.
– Customise your X (Twitter) settings to turn off interest-based ads, this can be done by visiting the Personalisation and Data Settings and change the setting ‘Personalise ads’ according to your preferences.
Youtube
– As with all of other Social Media platforms, you can eliminate ads from specific advertisers by blocking their YouTube accounts.
– Remove unwanted ads on Google services like Search, YouTube, and Gmail, this can be done by simply exploring the information provided on those ads and select either, ‘’Why this Ad’’, ‘’Stop seeing this Ad’’ or ‘’Control Ads like these’’, depending on the service you are using.
– Control ads on websites and apps partnered with Google by clicking on the ad, removing the partner and by clicking ‘’Stop seeing this ad’’ and ‘’Report this ad’’.
– Still on Google Ads Services, you can enter your account’s Ad Center and personalise it to your preferences, just go to the Ad Setting page and turn off your personalised ads.
* Path to the settings can look slightly different according to the device you are using, app version and location.
These are just a few of the tools you have to control your online ad experience, there are still browser extensions, websites to help you assess what data is being collected by the platforms you use and how to restrict the access to this information.
Remember, you are in control of your user experience and we are here to help!
