Glorious Goodwood 2026: Yabher (1:50)
Yabher (1.50) was a massive disappointment at York, almost too bad to be true, but he has winning Goodwood form having made all to dot up by six lengths here the time before, and he has bounced straight back from a poor run to win next time. If he’d not gone to York and run so badly he’d arguably be favourite here, so the 6-1 is worth consideration.
Glorious Goodwood 2026: Lake Forest (3:00)
This looks a fairly weak renewal of the Lennox, smallest field for some time and whereas last year you had seven horses rated 110+ in the race, just the four this year. In truth it looks a terrific chance for Lake Forest (3.00) to get back to winning ways.
His second to Witness Stand in this last year when not at his best (and they probably gave the winner too much rope) he won very easily at Haydock on his reappearance and lost little in defeat dropped back to 6f in the Jubilee at Royal Ascot, a close fifth and doing best of those drawn very low. I expect him to reverse form with Witness Stand this year, who perhaps isn’t in as good form this time around.
Glorious Goodwood 2026: Miss Alpilled (3:35)
I’d not be shocked if Miss Alpilles outran massive odds here. It’s been a tale of steady progression with Ed Walker’s mare, and she’s upped her game again last two; second to Danielle in the G3 Bronte Cup at York and then beaten 11 lengths by Scandinavia in the Gold Cup, almost grabbing fourth and again looking all about stamina. She bolted up in a handicap here last August and whilst that was only a handicap, it did at least show she handled the track well. I wonder if they might try and make more use of her stamina here?
Glorious Goodwood 2026: Electricfarrh (5:20)
Electrifarrh (5.20), from stall 2, has to be worth a mention too. A four-length second to Blue Bolt last year – yes, that Blue Bolt, the one that beat Precise to win the G1 Falmouth at Newmarket recently – reads well enough and we’ve only seen her twice since then, needing the comeback run at Kempton in March and latterly when a staying-on sixth to River King at Newbury at the start of June.
Again, she looks to have had her mark preserved well, and it is of some interest Ed Walker goes for a hood – over the past two years he’s 3-8 on fillies/mares when using it, with a couple of others placed too. That should help her settle and similar comments apply to her as Atlantis Blue; she just needs those all-important gaps to appear.
