Premier League 2023/24: Weekend Football Tips Round 33

Premier League Best Bets

Round 33 from the top tier of professional football in England provides followers with some eye-catching and important fixtures as the Premier League 2023/24 title race enters a grandstand finish. Manchester City replaced Liverpool at the top of the division after winning, while the Reds and Arsenal suffered surprise defeats.

The four-in-a-row chasing Citizens are now betting favourites at kwiff in the Premier League outright market, but just two points separate the top three sides. How will round 33 affect the title race?

This weekend’s action is watered down by the semi-finals of the FA Cup, which pairs Manchester City and Chelsea before Coventry City face Manchester United. That means the EPL card is reduced to just three games on Saturday and another four on Sunday. Which teams are expected to win, and which bets offer kwiff members the best value?

Keep reading as our resident Premier League writer and gambling expert Frank Monkhouse previews the best round 33 has to offer, including at Molineux on Saturday evening.

Wolves vs Arsenal

Wolverhampton Wanderers host title-chasing Arsenal at 19:30 GMT at Molineux in a game broadcast live on television to a global audience. But which team will win and snatch all three points?  Victory could send the home team into the top 10, but they must improve after winning just one of their last six games at this level and losing half of their previous four. Wolves were last seen in action fighting to a 2-2 draw away to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

That’s a game they could’ve won and probably should’ve, but Wolves fans know their team only has themselves to blame. They scored twice through Matheus Cunha, leading 1-0 in 40 minutes but needing a late strike to rescue a share of the spoils. Arsenal arrives at Molineux as the pre-match betting favourites at kwiff. Still, Mikel Arteta’s side have some making up to do to fans after suffering a surprise 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa last Sunday. That loss to Villa was only the North London team’s fifth defeat of the season and they know they must get back on track at the first time of asking.

Wolves and Arsenal met at the Emirates Stadium back in December when the Gunners secured a hard-fought 2-1 home win thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, both scoring inside the opening 13 minutes of play before Wolves hit a late consolation goal.  Arsenal has won their last five meetings with Wolves and we fancy a sixth win at 1.32 with kwiff. Those looking for bigger odds may wish to try Arsenal to score in both halves at a tempting 1.94.

Fulham vs Liverpool

Moving to the pick of Sunday’s four-game programme from the Premier League, we focus on matters at Craven Cottage, where Liverpool aims to breathe life back into their title challenge. Jurgen Klopp’s team lost last weekend but remains in the title picture and could go top if they claim victory in this 16:30 GMT kick-off, another fixture you can follow live on television. Will the visitors secure a vital away win at a tricky venue? You can make predictions on the kwiff website or mobile site.

Fulham enjoys the home advantage here, and despite knowing the away win is favourite with traders and most pundits, the locals have reason to be confident. The Cottagers start round 34 in 12th position, with their stats for the season reading 12 wins, six draws, and 15 defeats with 49 goals scored and 51 conceded.

Fulham have won just one of their last four but recorded a stunning upset win over West Ham at the London Stadium last Sunday in a compelling derby. Two goals from Andreas Pereira helped heap pressure on Hammers boss David Moyes, with Fulham staying in contention for a top-10 finish. That derby win was a real feather in Fulham’s cap, but they know this week’s challenge is much greater.

Liverpool started the round sitting third in the league following a patchy finishing to the season. The Reds haven’t looked like title contenders down the home straight but, fortunately for Klopp and co, Man City and Arsenal haven’t been perfect either. The visitors arrive having won just two of their last five and are winless in their previous two league starts, taking one point from the six available. A return to winning ways in London is essential to keep Liverpool in the race for silverware.

Liverpool followed a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford with a surprise 3-0 home defeat to Italian Serie A side Atalanta in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. They then lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace at Anfield last Sunday with Eberechi Eze netting the only goal of the game inside the opening quarter of an hour. Improvement is required, but the stats support a strong away win ahead of Sunday evening’s live match.

The head-to-head stats show both teams have scored in each of the last three games involving these teams, including a 4-3 win for Liverpool at Anfield in the league earlier this season. Given that their need for points is much greater than that of their hosts, we’re backing Liverpool to win and both teams to score @ 2.35 with kwiff.
