Brighton v Man Utd: Hosts tipped for success at The AMEX, August 24th 2024

Brighton v Man Utd,

It’s Brighton v Manchester United in Saturday’s early kick-off, with both sides no doubt delighted to have won their first Premier League game of the season, and an intriguing match up at The Amex.

Brighton v Man Utd: South Coast Drama

Questions remain about United boss Erik ten Hag despite their victory in the FA Cup final and the Red Devils still have plenty to prove after a nervy 1-0 win over Fulham. Brighton, meanwhile, won 3-0 at Everton in their first match under the stewardship of 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler and time will tell if the German proves to be the real deal as Roberto De Zerbi’s replacement in the Seagulls dugout.

Brighton v Man Utd: Hosts Fancied

Brighton had an excellent start to the campaign at Goodison Park last week and even the fact the Toffees ended the game with ten men should not dilute the scale of that victory, as it was already 2-0 when Ashley Young was sent off. A victory on such a scale should give the Seagulls and their new boss plenty of confidence, as will the fact they have won four of their last five games against Manchester United.

Ten Hag saved his job by winning the FA Cup last season but we still don’t really know if the Old Trafford hierarchy have simply papered over the cracks by allowing the Dutchman to stay on. There were definitely few signs against Fulham on the opening night that they have turned the corner, although the manager is unfortunate that striker Rasmus Hojlund has picked up an injury that looks set to keep him out for a while.

New signing Joshua Zirkzee was on the mark against the Cottagers, but this looks like being a tougher game as they allowed Marco Silva’s side plenty of chances on the counter attack and Brighton are more capable of taking them and winning at odds of 2.30.

Brighton v Man Utd: Goals Galore on the Seaside

Saturday lunchtime kick-offs sometimes take a while to get going, but that may not be the case this week. United kept a clean sheet last week but Ten Hag still has to get to grips with what his best back four may look like and that could lead to a disjointed performance at the Amex.

The Red Devils conceded 58 goals in their 38 matches last term and Brighton should be positive after losing four of their final five home outings last season. The Seagulls will be hoping to put on a show in their first game on their own patch under their new boss, so take a chance on there being three or more goals at 2.30.

Brighton v Man Utd: Bruno the Catalyst

While Ten Hag has chopped and changed his rearguard, Bruno Fernandes remains United’s chief creative force and the Portuguese midfielder looks set to be at the heart of the action. Fernandes, who scored ten goals and posted eight assists last season, is not afraid to try his luck, as he showed against the Cottagers when he had six efforts at goal, three of which were on target.

A price of 2.25 is available about him having at least four goal attempts in Saturday’s game, something that has occurred in 12 of his league appearances last term.
