There is plenty of racing action to get stuck into on Wednesday with no fewer than seven cards in Britain and Ireland. Read our best Wednesday racing tips, including a course specialist who looks set to go well again.
Wednesday Racing Tips: Josiebond (3.40 Beverley)
They are due to get some rain at Beverley overnight and with soft likely to feature somewhere in the going description, it’s worth looking out for horses that will be suited by those conditions.
Josiebond (3.40) looks capable of going well in the 13-runner handicap over the extended mile. The eight-year-old mare has come down a long way in the weights but there have been a few signs of revival this season, including when finishing a respectable fifth over an insufficient seven furlongs last time out.
She ought to relish a step back up in trip and it’s worth noting that the daughter of Monsieur Bond was a course-and-distance winner from a 5lb higher mark last term. With the yard in form with a couple of winners last week, this mare may bounce back to form back at Beverley.
Wednesday Racing Tips: Slainte Mhath (4.20 Hamilton)
There’s also some rain expected up at Hamilton before racing on Wednesday and the ground will probably be soft. That will suit Slainte Mhath (4.20) whose five wins have all been with soft somewhere in the going and the mare ran a cracker in a competitive 21-runner handicap at York on Saturday. She should relish a return to this venue where she has three course-and-distance wins to her name and this looks a bit less competitive than last weekend’s contest.
There’s a potential uncontested lead on the cards for this confirmed front-runner and she ought to find this small field easier to dominate than Saturday’s race at York. She runs from the same mark here and she ought to be capable of enhancing her impressive strike-rate of five wins and nine further places from 29 turf starts.
Wednesday Racing Tips: Tyger Bay (7.12 Kempton)
Change Swings is likely to go off favourite for Kempton’s feature race, a sprint series qualifier over six furlongs, but there are a few reasons to take him on in this contest. He’s an out-and-out front runner who got his own way out in front on the Rowley Course at Newmarket last time, but that course and distance lends itself to speedy starters and he may find this field harder to dominate from stall eight.
One that looks capable of going well is Tyger Bay. Conrad Allen’s stable stalwart has been in the form of his life and arrives here bidding for a hat-trick after wins at Catterick and Bath. That recent effort is worth marking up and he should relish a return to this course and distance, having won here four times previously.
Success here could earn connections a crack at sprint series here later in the season, with a potential money-spinner for a relatively small yard. Given his course record, and a likely soft lead, he has to boast solid each way claims.
