Dave Massey has been in spectacular form throughout the month of December and is back with more National Hunt Tips ahead of the New Year’s Eve meetings at Warwick and Uttoxeter.
Dave Massey’s National Hunt Tips, December 31st 2025
National Hunt Tips: Katira Du Mestivel (Warwick, 1.22)
Katira Du Mestivel is a hard one to love at face value, as she’s not set the world alight this season but her second to the now 130-rated Hollygrove Cha Cha at Fontwell around this time last year was a good effort and makes a mark of 93 here look more than workable.
She’s probably needed both runs this season to get her somewhere near peak fitness and the hope today is that she’s given a more positive ride than has been the case so far, totally dropped out at Southwell last time. Might be more a watching brief, but she’s still of some interest to me.
National Hunt Tips: Cornish Comedy (Warwick, 1.52)
Robbie Llewellyn continues to have a great December and his Cornish Comedy looks the one to beat after a very solid debut effort over fences at Hereford. He only had the four starts over hurdles before being moved up to the bigger obstacles but he jumped well bar a bad mistake late as he got a bit tired, but still managed second, beaten six lengths, and there should be more to come.
National Hunt Tips: Kenzoko (Uttoxeter, 2.13)
Kenzoko caught the eye behind Jasmine D’Airy here last time out and whilst the opening mark isn’t a gimme by any means, you’d expect some improvement to come on his handicap debut today and the booking of Sean Bowen suggests connections mean business in what looks a very winnable contest. The only surprise is that they haven’t stepped him up in trip – another entry at Ayr over 2m4f later in the week would arguably be more suitable trip-wise – but all the same, he’s got to be taken seriously here.
National Hunt Tips: Jacques Clouseau (Uttoxeter, 2:43)
By far the most interesting runner on the whole card, for me, is Jacques Clouseau in this handicap chase. He beat Old Cowboy, who we saw win at Newbury from a mark of 121 earlier in the week, in a point-to-point at Chaddesley Corbett last year, and has always looked a chaser in the making.
Despite that, he might well have won over hurdles at Southwell on his reappearance last month with a slightly more positive ride, and I expect a lot of improvement now he goes chasing. A mark of 109 is begging to be taken advantage of.
