ATP Tennis Best Bets: January 12th 2026
Giron beat Muller only last week in Hong Kong and so I was surprised to see him chalked up as the underdog in this one. The American was a 6-4 7-6 victor in the last 16 last week, a scoreline which suggests a tight match. However, the underlying data shows Giron as a more comfortable winner. He won 68% of first-serve points to Muller’s 60%, while there was a considerable advantage on the equivalent second-serve stat – 57-41.

Overall, Giron won 56% of the points which may not seem a lot but to those with a knowledge of tennis data is really quite impressive. Giron went on to make the semi-finals in Hong Kong and even there he took a set off the eventual champion, Alexander Bublik. A quarter-finalist here in 2023, Giron looks a good bet at 1.86.
Tennis Best Bets: Marozsan v Monfils
It’s always a bit of risk backing a player who hasn’t played for months but Monfils looks worth chancing here. He ended his 2025 campaign in September due to injury but has since announced that this season will be the last of his career. That should bring some extra motivation, as will the fact that his wife Elina Svitolina won the WTA title in Auckland on Sunday – Monfils has been there supporting her all week and, obviously, also bedding in on the practice courts.
In short, he should be well rested and well prepared for what is a title defence for the Frenchman. It’s also worth noting that this is a player who has regularly delivered his best tennis at this time of year. Eight of his 13 career titles have all come in either January or February, essentially when his frail body is in the best shape following close-season rest. Marozsan lost his season-opener in Hong Kong last week and has also lost two of the pair’s three previous meetings, both of those Monfils wins coming last season.
