Andy Schooler’s final Monday match-bets column of the season has Tasty Tennis Tips for the ATP events in Athens and Metz.

Tasty Tennis Tips: ATP Athens and Metz, Nov 3rd 2025

Opposing Rinderknech last week helped this column profit and I’m prepared to do it again this week in Metz. The Polytan surface laid for the first time here 12 months ago slowed conditions down and that should suit Altmaier, who enjoyed his time in Paris last week on courts that had also seen their speed reduced.

ATP Tennis TIps: Daniel Altmaier v Arthur Rinderknech

The German took down Casper Ruud and had a good chance to do the same to eventual runner-up Felix Auger-Aliassime before losing in three sets. Rinderknech’s strong first serve is unlikely to get so much bite here and as one of the home players, he’ll be under plenty of pressure to deliver, especially as he’s a recent Masters 1000 finalist in Shanghai.

I suspect he’d prefer things a bit quicker than he’s going to get – Adrian Mannarino found this on Sunday when the Frenchman made a quick exit – and I think Altmaier is worth chancing at 2.3 given the form he was showing last week.

ATP Tennis Tips: Alexandre Muller v Jan-Lennard Struff

The odds suggest this is virtually a 50-50 match but I disagree. Muller has won just five of his last 20 matches, a run going back to the claycourt season, and I have Struff as a clear favourite.

He’s just come through qualifying during which he lost serve only once across two matches. That delivery, and his flat groundstrokes, have the potential to cause problems on what is supposedly a medium-fast Laykold hardcourt in Athens. He beat Karen Khachanov indoors in Almaty recently and it’s not that long since the German was involved in the last 16 of the US Open having beaten seeds Holger Rune and Frances Tiafoe in New York.

Back Struff at 1.72.

ATP Tennis Tips: Damir Dzumhur v Jacob Fearnley

I’m going to try a small play on Dzumhur here, largely based on price. Admittedly, Fearnley did catch the eye recently in Vienna where he pushed Alex Zverev to a final-set tie-break but he was well beaten by Andrey Rublev in Paris last week and I’m not sure he warrants being 1.36 here.

Dzumhur beat a couple of decent sorts in Aleks Kovacevic and Quentin Halys in Paris qualifying last week, while in Brussels a few weeks ago he was very close to bringing down eventual champion Felix Auger-Aliassime, only losing in a final-set tie-break. Both men have struggled for hardcourt wins at tour level this season – Fearnley leads the count 6-5 – and their underlying stats are pretty close too.

Dzumhur has won 71% of his service games on this surface, breaking 18% of the time for a combined total of 89. Fearnley’s equivalent figures are 75% and 17% for a slightly better 92. Yes, I do think he’s the correct favourite but the price gap between the two looks too big and the Bosnian represents a spot of value.
