LIV Golf – 2024 Full Schedule

LIV Golf

LIV Golf was founded in 2021 and while this new tour may not have made the impact it would have hoped for just yet, there are several high-profile players that compete on it.

Financed by the Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia, the first LIV Golf season took place in 2022 and the tour is currently in the third campaign. It was announced in June 2023 that the PIF, PGA Tour and DP World Tour were in talks to strike an agreement that would effectively create a merger between the three tours, serving the best interests of each entity.

No agreement has been struck yet, but there is hope from all sides that a deal can be reached. The issue for LIV Golf is the failure to get official world golf rankings points for their tournaments. Spain’s Jon Rahm is one of the most high-profile players to have recently made the switch to LIV, joining the likes of Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith and Brooks Koepka. Here is the core information you need to know about LIV Golf and what is still to look forward to in the 2024 season.

Format

LIV Golf tournaments are 54-hole events played over three rounds, usually from Friday to Sunday, with the standard stroke play format being used. Unlike most professional golf competitions, there is no cut made and all 54 players are guaranteed some prize money, with last place earning $50,000.

A shotgun start is also used, meaning the entire field will tee off at the same time but on different holes. Along with the normal individual battle, there are also four-person teams on LIV Golf. The scores of each player from all three rounds count towards the overall score, with the lowest total team tally taking home first prize.

The winning side receives $3m, second place gets $1.5m and third collects $500,000.
