Dave Chisnall is back involved in Euro Tour action this week, heading to Prague for the Czech Darts Open. Chizzy, a beaten finalist to Peter Wright in 2023, gives his thoughts ahead of this week’s tungsten action.
Dave Chisnall: Czech Open 2025 Preview
It was disappointing last weekend, losing 6-4 to Leon Weber last week in Antwerp. I missed darts to level up at 4-4 and after those bad misses, he duly punished me. You’re left kicking yourself in those situations and it was another game where I’ve let the other player get into a soft lead. It happened on the Pro Tour the week before, where you find yourself 4-1 down and ultimately with a mountain to climb just to get back level in the game.
Leon’s a decent player but I don’t think he’s ranked within the top 100 of the world, and I shouldn’t be losing those sorts of games. This time last year I was the Number One seed on the Euro Tour and my form hasn’t been good enough the last 12 months, hence the slide down the rankings. It’s so important to stay within the top 16 of the world, because it’s such an advantage – especially on the Euro Tour.
The next few weeks are potentially huge for me getting my season back on track. After this week’s Euro Tour event in Prague, there’s Pro Tour action in Hildesheim, then World Series in Amsterdam and then a good Euro Tour event in Budapest. It’s high time I started banking a few Euros and preserve my place in that essential top spots in the world rankings.
Dave Chisnall: Czech Darts Open
Tomorrow’s game is my perfect type of start, in the early afternoon. It allows me to get into a nice routine, of a decent bit of kip, a good breakfast and then onto the practice board. My scoring has still been good the last few weeks, even if results haven’t gone the right way, so I’m looking forward to getting out there. It won’t be easy, I’ll be facing my Harrows team-mate Ryan Searle who won his opening game 6-2 on Friday evening. He’s a good mate, but I’ll be hopefully sending him packing in Prague on Saturday!
Dave Chisnall: Eye Spy Isak
I was shocked that Liverpool finally got round to Aleksander Isak; I thought there was no way Newcastle would sell him after the carry on the last few weeks and him going on strike. But effectively, I guess they got their man from Brentford, the big lad gets his move to Anfield and everyone goes home happy. You wonder where the boss is going to fit them all in, with Wurz and Ekitike signed as well – does he now sit on the bench, alongside Cody Gakpo? Nice problems to have! I’m even more convinced we’ll win the league now!
