Dave Chisnall is back on more Euro Tour adventures, this time Germany bound for the wonderfully named Elten Safety Shoes German Darts Championship. Read his exclusive thoughts for kwiff as Chizzy bids to get his season back on track before the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace.
Dave Chisnall: Exclusive October 2025 Update
There were more positives at this week’s Pro Tour events in Wigan, when a mix-up with the scoring really hurt me having a good run towards the finals on Wednesday. At 3-2 v Wessel Nijman and throwing for tops I crept into the wrong bed and hit Double 5. I asked the scorer what it was in and he said ‘5’ and it wasn’t until I hit single 3 (to leave Double 16) did he tell me it was in fact in the double.
These things happen, and it’s nobody’s fault but it’s one of them where when it’s not going for you, it just isn’t going for you. My darts were much better this week, and I played well in beating both Brett Claydon and Tom Taylor in the earlier rounds.
Despite a poor season I’ve still qualified for the Players Championship finals, which is no small feat given the depth of talent these days. I’ve got to a final and a semi-final, the irony of all being the semi v Steve (Bunting) was probably one of the best games of darts I’ve played all season – but he just so happened to be better. I’m still ranked 17th on the Order of Merit despite everything going wrong this season and there’s plenty of life in me just yet. I’m chomping at the bit already for the Worlds at Ally Pally and fly into next season.
Dave Chisnall: Euro Tour
Before that though it’s the final Euro Tour of the season and I’m doing this blog from my hotel in Germany. I’m on a horrendous run – losing I think 8 consecutive games now on the tour – which commentators and people on social media like to remind me of every time it grows a bit longer.
I was Euro Tour Player of the Year just 18 months ago so it’s a bit of a fall from grace however, I haven’t half ran into players this season. Ryan Searle knocked us out with some brilliant darts earlier in the year and then there was the small matter of Hurricane Barney in Budapest with Raymond averaging 107, and then Luke Woodhouse averaging 109 against me the week after. What do you do? There’s no point sulking, you’ve got to shake the man’s hand and move onto next week. I’ve been on tour now for almost 15 years and as soon as you start to feel bitter or twisted, or feel sorry for yourself, you’re finished. Head up and go again.
Dave Chisnall: Well Done Beau
It shouldn’t be downplayed just what an achievement it is by Beau Greaves to get her Tour Card next season. The 3x Lakeside Women’s Champion has been at a top class level for years now and it’s great for the sport to have her on the PDC circuit next season – I won’t be looking forward to playing her – let me tell you! She’ll do well too, and is probably better than most of the lads on the tour. If you look at the manner of her beating Luke Littler in the week, it shows you just how good she is. Well done Beau, and see you on tour next season!
