Dave Chisnall is back from further Euro Tour adventures, bidding to climb back up the Order of Merit and claim silverware for the 2025 season.

Dave Chisnall: Darting Diary, April 29th 2025

How do! It’s been a while, and it’s been a busy few weeks as the season begins to hot up as we enter a busy summer schedule. I’ve dropped down to 12th in the Order of Merit, but it’s nothing to worry about as I was carrying a lot of money from this time last year.

Results have been inconsistent and encouraging in equal measures, if that can even make any sense at all. I got to the Last 32 of both Pro Tours last week, and the third round of the last couple of Euro Tours without really making a proper run in any of the events. The win over Ian White on Saturday means that I think I’m the only person (I think) to have made it to Round 3 of all 5 Euro Tour events, and whilst that is nice, I’d still like to be going much deeper into some of these tournaments.

Dave Chisnall: Austrian Darts Open 2025

I should have beaten Luke (Littler) when 4-2 up in the Quarter-Finals of the Belgian Darts Open but he came back and found another gear. Apart from that, it’s been pretty tame from me and pretty poor in terms of doing the basics. I beat Ian White on Saturday, but gave myself too much to do when losing to Ryan Joyce on Sunday.

The first leg should have been mine, it was missing the big number, which is criminal at this standard and you get punished at this level. You can tell I was a bit frustrated and the temperature there didn’t help either. The room was absolutely roasting, with one of the commentators saying he didn’t know what was hotter, my doubles or the room. Was most definitely the room! I battled well from 5-0 down, but the damage had already been done.

Dave Chisnall: Heating Up

Another thing my manager Roger has noticed is that when it’s warm, I lose a bit of concentration – I’m spending too much mopping my brow! I suppose it’s one of those things where you just have to find a way of getting used to. I know some of the bigger lads used to struggle when they first played under the big bright lights of TV tournaments – mentioning no names, but you can work it out!

Despite all this, I’m staying positive and I’m looking forward to another trip to Germany this weekend for more Euro Tour action. I think there’s two trips to Germany and two trips to Holland in the month of May, so fingers crossed we can come back with a few Euros. Whilst down to 12 in the Order of Merit, there’s now good opportunities to claw a bit back.

Dave Chisnall: Big Opportunities

I did awfully in most of the big TV tournaments the last couple of years, getting to the Quarter-Finals of the 2024 Worlds notwithstanding, so a good run at The World Matchplay, The World Grand Prix of The Grand Slam could make a big difference. If I can go into some of the bigger tournaments with a trophy or two trousered, it would make life a good deal easier. Fingers crossed!

Dave Chisnall: LFC Champions

A last word on watching the scenes at Anfield on Sunday, which looked unreal. I was watching with Roger in our Austrian hotel – and Rog just so happens to be a Spurs fan! He said after they went 1-0 up ‘They’ll still lose 4-1’ and he was almost right lol! The lads deserve it after a brilliant season, and fair play to the manager who has done that without spending any money. With Virgil and Big Mo signing new deals, it hopefully means we can successfully defend next season!

Take care! Chiz x
