Dave Chisnall returned to Pro Tour action last week in Wigan; read the exclusive thoughts of Chizzy on Pro Tour 1 and 2 as well as this week’s action from Rosmalen.
Dave Chisnall: Chizzy in Rosmalen, bidding for further Pro Tour Glory, Feb 17th 2025
It was good to be back on the Pro Tour, despite Monday not exactly going to plan. I was knocked out in the opening round, losing 6-4 to Carl Sneyd. Carl’s a good player, but I should have won that. I gave myself far too much to do – coming back from 5-0 down to 5-4 winning four legs on the bounce. In this format though, you get punished if not at it for a few legs.
Dave Chisnall: Pro Tour 2
Tuesday was a lot better, despite needing to come from behind again. I was 5-4 down to Madars (Razma) before finding a nice couple of legs to go through 6-5. I know it’s a bit daft given how much darts we play but something like that does give us a bit of a lift, and I played well to reel off the next couple of games.
I beat Tommy Lishman and then Haupai Puha 6-1. I always think the Kiwi’s name is absolutely top class and he should be a centre for the Saints or something! He’d defo do a job for us! I made it to the quarter-finals with a 6-5 defeat of Nick Kenny, but it ALL went wrong against Ross Smith.
It’s hard to describe, but when you get behind, you’re almost trying too hard and that’s when you end up playing even worse. I lost 6-2 to Ross Smith but make no mistake, it was a proper pasting and the 75 average speaks for itself. I missed a couple of doubles early and sometimes it just stays on your mind, and you can’t shake it off. I played well for the day though, so there’s signs my best form is coming back.
Dave Chisnall: Revitalised in Rosmalen
A good few days at home have put us in a good place at the moment – the missus was lucky to have my company on Valentine’s Day and was suitably wined and dined! I got to Holland on Sunday night and have had a good practice since getting here.
Some folk complain about the travel, but it’s part of the game. I love my bed as much as the next man, but we’re lucky to be in this profession and it isn’t wasted on me. There’s the Pro Tour events here, and then the UK Open down in Minehead at the end of the month and I’d be hopeful for a good run at both.
I better earn some prize money this week, as I’m taking the kids to Alton Towers on Friday! Wish me luck!
