Dave Chisnall: 2025 Reflections and Big Ally Pally Disappointment

Dave Chisnall

Dave Chisnall is back to reflect on his agonising miss, after crashing out of the PDC World Darts Championship 2025 against Ricky Evans at Alexandra Palace on Monday.

Dave Chisnall – Ally Pally Exit

Needless to say, Monday was gutting. I thought I’d prepared better than I have ever done before for the Worlds, and thought I played well to a point against Ricky. There were some silly mistakes – a couple of times I missed the big number, and I don’t know where to begin with the 139 phantom finish.

It was actually a nice finish too, you don’t see many of them, which obviously meant for nothing. I was just lucky to be able to take the double out on my next visit, because you see them go astray and you don’t get a chance to make amends. Ricky got off to a flyer with the darts in the sudden death leg, and when you’re behind, it’s really hard to make the ground up. I shouldn’t have even put myself in that position really, but it’s gone now, and we have to try and move on and look  towards next season.

Dave Chisnall: Season 2024

Ricky is a great bloke and played really well by the way, and I hope he does really well for the rest of the tournament. It’s just a bit gutting that the season has come to an end, and is perhaps a fitting end to my year in big tournaments. It never clicked up there this year, whether it be The Grand Slam, The World Matchplay of The World Championships. I’m better than that, and I know I am.

It’s annoying because I know I can win – twice on the Euro Tour this season, and twice on the Pro Tour – so there’s no issue with bottle or nerves. I just need to keep the faith and hope it clicks in a major. It will come, I know it will.

Dave Chisnall – Interested Spectator

I had two of my Harrows team-mates fighting it out on Friday with Damon Heta beating Luke Woodhouse to win a cracking third round tie. The Aussie did the business and hit a nine-darter to boot, fair to say he’ll be celebrating that this weekend! Both are great blokes and Damo probably deserves more credit for the season he’s had – he remains pretty under-rated still.

Dave Chisnall: Worlds Predictions

Speaking of under-rated, it’s still hard to see beyond the reigning World Champion successfully going back-to-back for me. I know his namesake gets all the plaudits and the headlines – and to be fair he did a great job on the remake of Bullseye – I think Cool Hand is just on another level at the top of the sport.

Both Lukes has been fantastic ambassadors for the sport since last year’s final, and all of us are benefitting from the increased global appeal, but I think Mr Humphries has a bit more steel about him in those big games. You don’t win what he has in the last couple of years otherwise. I will be like many others and on the sofa and glued to the action!

Catch yous in 2025! Chiz x
