Chizzy: Staying Positive, May 9th 2025
There was another missed opportunity at last weekend’s Euro Tour, losing 6-3 to Ross Smith in Sindelfingen and ending my streak of being the only player to get passed Round 2 of all ET events this season so far. And I could have, and should have won the game but for silly errors again.
Chizzy: Missed Doubles
I’m still suffering with slow starts but thought I threw well, and took out a good double to get it back to 3-3. Then it was a case of more missed doubles, with two at tops going astray and my head going down a little bit after. Darts can be a very frustrating game sometimes, and when you miss big darts and get punished it’s the equivalent of being kicked in the stomach. It hurts, and it motivates you to do better. Ross has had my number so far this season, think he’s been a bit of a bogey player for us, but I’ll get him back in the next one!
Chizzy: Exhibitions
There’s no Euro Tour action this week, so I’m going to Bromley for an exhibition this evening, and it should be a good do. There’s been some good crowds for other appearances at Swansea, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield and it’s always great to see the fans. Plenty of fans will be queueing up for a selfie, and it’s nice to see so many young faces as darts starts appealing to younger audiences.
Chizzy: Pro Tour
I go back up north on Saturday evening and have one night in my own bed, before heading to Hildesheim again on Sunday for more Pro Tour action. I’ve got happy memories of the place from winning there last season – I think I beat Dirk van Duijvenbode 8-6 final, in a bit of a scrappy game.
My game is good though, so I’ve got nothing to complain about, life is good. It’s coming, I know it’s coming, I just have to keep working hard and keep the faith! My ranking has gone down due to defending a lot of money from this time in 2023, so I’m confident we can creep up back into the top ten again. There’s three consecutive weekends of Euro Tour action later in the month and I’d be disappointed if I didn’t get at least one of them. Fingers crossed I need to make some room on the mantelpiece by the end of the month at Chez Chiz!
