Belgian Darts Open 2026: Chizzy Hunting Further Euro Tour Success

Belgian Darts Open 2026

Dave Chisnall is Wieze bound ahead of this week’s Euro Tour action, and back in action on Friday ahead of Day 1 of the Belgian Darts Open 2026.

Belgian Darts Open 2026: Euro Tour Success

Last week was another frustrating week on the Euro Tour, but not for the usual reasons this time. My achilles heel the last 18 months has been slow starts and I did it again in the first round of last week’s tournament in Gottingen.

I was 5-0 to Jeffrey De Zwaan, and pretty absent from those opening 5 legs to be honest. When you get 5-0 down in a race to six the same sentiment goes through your head every time – just don’t get nilled. After winning one leg, and breaking, it was then just one leg at a time and then by the time it’s 5-5 you’ve won 5 on the spin and have all the momentum.

Belgian Darts Open 2026: Keep Grinding

You breathe a sigh of relief in situations like that – just happy to have got it out of the way. In my head, with a bit of luck on my side I fancied my chances against Ross Smith in the next round but he’s been a bit of a bogey player to me the last year or so – especially on the Euro Tour.

Unlike me, I actually started playing well – the timing of the game suited me down to the ground in the mid-afternoon – and despite an early break of throw he won 6-4 and played really well. Smithy is probably one of the most improved players on tour, and still amazes me how he doesn’t have back pain stooping down from that big frame of his – he’s a good lad.

Belgian Darts Open 2026: High Hopes

This week’s opener is against Thibaut Tricole who brought out some of the best darts I’ve chucked all season earlier in the month on the Pro Tour. I took out some nice finishes and was really strong on my scoring when we met at Players Championship 5 when I won 6-4. I’m a pretty modest bloke for the most of it but I should have won that a lot easier – I missed doubles for a 10-darts leg and was very strong on my scoring.

Tonight’s game is a good time for me at 7pm in the evening’s opener, so there’s no complaints from my end. My manager and I got over yesterday evening and got some good kip last night. The practice has been good – I had a really good session on  Tuesday – and apart from the shirt maybe being a bit big for me, everything’s good. We just need the results to match it now. That’s enough Belgian waffling from me anyway, I’m off to chuck some arrears.
