The Patent bet is a compact multi-bet option offered by kwiff. It involves choosing three selections in different events to create a total of seven bet combinations (3 singles, 3 doubles, and a treble). You could still win if any single selection is successful.
Patent bets differ from a traditional treble Acca as you only need one selection to come through to have a win. A successful Patent bet could return more than three individually placed singles when more than one of your selections wins.
Whether you choose to stick with a single sport to build your Patent bet out from, or create a unique blend of multiple sports, it’s your chance to bet your way.
The only thing to remember is you can’t build out from the same event. How do I win on a Patent bet?
With three bets, a Patent bet creates seven bets that you could win from, with the returns growing based on the number of winners you’re able to pick out and how they combine.
For instance – you place a bet on horse race A, B and C.
The bets on A, B, and C all win.
By placing a Patent bet you are able to collect on all seven bets as follows:
Singles: 3
A
B
C
Doubles: 3
A and B
A and C
B and C
Trebles: 1
A, B and C
Even if just A and B won, you would still be able to collect on three of the seven bets:
Singles: 2
A
B
Doubles: 1

What is a Patent bet?
A Patent is a bet option that becomes available once you’ve made three selections across three different events across any combination of sports and dates.
The combination of three selections increases your stake but also potentially increases your returns if you can pick out a number of winners.
Unlike some multi bet options (such as a Super Yankee which requires two of five selections to win) you can win a Patent if a single one of your selections comes through. Wins on all three selections mean you would collect on all seven combos.
Can you Supercharge a Patent bet?

What sports can you place a Patent bet on?
You can create a Patent bet with kwiff by combining bets on any sports which allows single wagers. This includes Horse racing, Greyhound racing, Football, Tennis, Darts, Golf, F1, American Football, Ice Hockey and Basketball.
You can make your selections from a single sport or across multiple options, all on the same day or across a time period that works for you. The only limitation is that your three bets must come from three different events. You can also place a Patent bet each way if all your selections allow the option.
Placing a Patent bet with kwiff
Placing a Patent with kwiff is very straightforward. We’ve put together this quick step-by-step guide to help you out:
Log into your kwiff account and pick out three selections for your Patent. Load the selections into the betslip by clicking the prices next to the names of the selections.
Your selections should appear in the betslip as three singles. Click the ‘multiples’ tab in the right-hand corner. You should see the option to place an Acca bet at the top, followed by the option for a Patent bet.
Navigate to the Patent option and input your stake, making sure you select each-way if your selection allows and you’d like to place the bet each-way.
Once you are happy with everything, click ‘place bets’. It is at this point where you will find out whether any of your bets have been Supercharged, remember all seven combinations have a chance to be boosted!
