The action rolls on into Thursday with another cracking card from Glorious Goodwood 2024 that features eight races. The Nassau and Richmond Stakes are amongst Thursday’s offerings which also includes some fascinating handicaps. Here, we have picked out eight horses to follow on day three of the meeting including some value picks at decent odds.
Goodwood 2024: Sisyphean (1.50)
It’s a slight surprise to see that Sisyphean isn’t the current favourite for Thursday’s first race of the day. He bolted up in a decent race at York last time out on his first start since a wind procedure and it’s possible he’ll come on for that run.
Goodwood 2024: The Striking Viking (2.25)
The Striking Viking has a class edge on his rivals here. He looked like he had a very bright future when landing a York maiden in June and nearly took the step up to Group company in his stride over at the Curragh since, chasing home a top prospect from Ballydoyle. The speed he showed that day should hold him in good stead at this track and he’s taken to gain compensation here.
Goodwood 2024: Meydaan (3.00)
This can go the way of Meydaan who has looked steadily progressive so far this season. He was a Listed winner at this venue before a creditable fourth at Royal Ascot last time out and this race doesn’t look as deep as that contest. If he wins this, he could be on route to the St Leger.
Goodwood 2024: Opera Singer (3.35)
Opera Singer may take some beating in this contest. She was a Group 1 winner at two before shaping like she needed her reappearance in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and showed she was still progressing when only beaten a length in a Royal Ascot Group 1 since.
Goodwood 2024: El Burhan (4.10)
There’s plenty to like about El Burhan who arrives bidding for a hat-trick. He looked like a top prospect when bolting up at Beverley last time out and the handicapper may have let him in lightly with a mark of 90.
Goodwood 2024: Grandlad (4.45)
This looks competitive but Grandlad might be the way to go. He made easy work of a course and distance handicap on his penultimate start and probably did too much early when fading late at York since. A return to Goodwood is sure to suit and better ground is also in this speedster’s favour.
Goodwood 2024: Dreamy (5.20)
A chance is taken on Dreamy making her debut here. She is particularly well bred, even for one from this stable and Aidan O’Brien’s newcomers don’t often have their first run in the UK. That’s probably a sign that she’s well above average and she can surpass the level of form of those that have already had a run.
Goodwood 2024: Sir Gabriel (5.55)
It’s hard to get away from the current favourite, Sir Gabriel in this contest. He was very impressive last time when improving for a quicker surface and the ground should be quick again here. He could be hard to beat under a 6lb penalty given that he’s 6lb well-in at the weights here.
