Thursday Horse Racing Tips

There’s some cracking flat action with horse racing tips from Newbury, Haydock and Tipperary – read our exclusive tips below.

Thursday Horse Racing Tips: July 4th 2024th

There is lots of Thursday horse racing action in store, with six meetings scheduled throughout Britain and Ireland on a busy day. There’s graded action over jumps from Tipperary, while Perth also offers the days other jumps meeting. The Flat meetings are staged at Bellewstown, Haydock, Newbury and Yarmouth. We’ve identified a trio of horses to look out for in the hopes of finding some winners.

Horse Racing Tips: Raison D’Etre (Haydock, 3.10)

There are some interesting newcomers in this 6f fillies’ maiden for Thursday horse racing, with the likes of Definitive, Ecology and Flashy Dark Angel, but they may still have to go some way to beat the Eve Johnson Houghton-trained Raison D’EtreThe Bated Breath filly made a promising debut when third in a Class 2 5f novice contest at York last month. The race has already produced two subsequent winners from those that finished behind her.

Georgia Dobie had to push her along three furlongs out in that contest and they were doing their best work late on, getting up for the bronze medal. The extra distance should be an aid now and that initial experience should stand her in good stead, while her rider can claim a useful 3lb this time.

Horse Racing Tips: Daddy Long Legs (Tipperary, 6.15)

Willie Mullins saddles both Winter Fog and Daddy Long Legs in the Grade 3 Grimes Hurdle and the latter gets the vote under champion jockey Paul Townend. He won in fine style on his debut for Ireland’s champion trainer at Thurles in November and then twice came up shy in Grade 1 company Leopardstown over Christmas and at the Dublin Racing Festival in February.

He won at Ludlow (2m, good) in April and stepped up again to win a Listed handicap hurdle  in ready fashion at Punchestown the same month off a mark of 135. His best days are ahead of him and he looks set to collect the €42,000 on offer here for connections.

Horse Racing Tips: Red Maids (Newbury, 7.55)

Purefoy, Chola Empire and State Flag are the only contenders in the field for this 7f contest with a recent win, but the trio come into this off the back of less pleasing efforts. The remainder of the field have reasons to be cautious and so preference is for Red Maids for the Mark Rimell yard for Thursday Horse Racing.

The Invincible Spirit filly is 2-12 on turf in her career, winning at Yarmouth and Haydock (both 7f, good) in August and September last year. She’s had four runs back from a winter break now and has been taking steps forward in each instance. She hit winning form on her fifth turf start last year and could do so again now. She was second over course and distance last time behind a well handicapped and in-form rival in Yantarni, and she is rated 2lb lower this time. If she can avoid a repeat of the tardy start in that contest, David Probert’s mount has sound claims.
