Hector Crouch is doing the Chelmsford, Wolverhampton and Lingfield treble this Valentine’s weekend, and looks primed to bang in some more winners on the all-weather.

Hector Crouch: Friday Rides at Chelmsford
It’s been a quiet week so I’m looking forward to getting back to it this weekend, starting with Gallant (6.00) for rookie trainer Oli Rix. He looked pretty smart last season with former trainer Andrew Balding and was rated as high as 88 when winning at Lingfield over a mile. He clearly stays further so hopefully it turns into a stamina test, but he does need to bounce back after a a couple of poor efforts.
Harry Charlton’s Tryfan (6.30) has been very well-supported in the Hearts and Hooves Handicap over his preferred 1m 6f trip and should have a good chance if he gets cover. He’s a very talented horse and should have conditions to suit in order to bounce back to winning ways. He has a very good chance.
Hector Crouch: Saturday Rides at Wolverhampton
I go to Wolverhampton for four rides starting with the tough and consistent Lhebayeb (5.45) who ran well last time out and is well drawn to give a good account. She’s on a bit of a losing streak but has fallen down the weights and looks well-handicapped to go well.
The well-bred Artanis (6.15) will be hard to beat in the 7f Fillies’ Novice if running to her two career starts for trainer George Boughey. She finished second and third in warm races last summer on the turf and looks to have been well-placed to make it third time lucky on her all-weather debut.
The 7f Handicap looks a potentially trappy contest that can hopefully go the way of Diamondonthehill (6.45) who has been banging on the door a while now. He has been placed on his last four starts, with the handicapper raising him a pound, which potentially underestimates him. A poor draw last time out at Kempton really hurt his chances, and this race looks much more likely to suit.
I don’t know a lot about Karisma’s Angel (7.15) but she will need to be very smart to beat the hat-trick seeking Al Najashi who bolted-up last week at Lingfield and is officially 10lb well-in at the weights.
