Four of Andy Schooler’s last five Premier League Best Bets have landed in the goalscorer section, the most recent at 4.8. Check out his preview of the midweek games, ahead of Matchday 26 in the top flight.
Premier League Best Bets: Feb 9th 2026 Tips
Aston Villa have lost two of their last three home games and are undoubtedly suffering a bit of a stutter right now. However, it should be remembered that they won 11 on the spin before that and now looks a good time to get Unai Emery’s men back onside.
Premier League Best Bets: Aston Villa v Brighton
Ollie Watkins returned to the XI for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at in-form Bournemouth, a game which saw Morgan Rogers get back on the scoresheet. Most importantly, their opposition are in a much bigger funk – Brighton arrive in Birmingham having won just one of their last 12 in the Premier League.
Villa have won seven of their last nine against the Seagulls, including a 4-3 victory in the reverse fixture in December. Watkins has been a key figure in that run – he’s scored nine goals in his last seven starts against Brighton and is 2.4 for another here. That’s worthy of consideration but I’ll go down the team route and simply back the hosts to win.
Premier League Best Bets: Chelsea v Leeds
While Watkins is tempting as we bid for a fifth winning goalscorer pick in the last six, I’m instead turning to Chelsea’s Joao Pedro. While not really and out-and-out centre-forward, the Brazilian has been playing furthest forward in this team of late. He’s scored five in his last seven appearances and has four in his last five starts for the Blues, who have now won four in a row under Liam Rosenior.
Here they face a Leeds side who have certainly picked up as they battle against relegation – they are six points clear of the drop zone after beating Nottingham Forest on Friday – but still have issues on the road. Only Bournemouth and Burnley have conceded more away goals, while their defensive weakness has been particularly apparent when facing the better teams. In eight matches against the current top six, Leeds have shipped multiple goals in six of them. They’ve conceded 3+ in five.
The worry here is that Pedro could be rested – with their sizeable squad, Chelsea tend to rotate a lot. It may be worthwhile waiting for the team news, although it’s also worth noting that Leeds have a poor record in terms of conceding in the second half (when Pedro would likely come on, if sub). Only West Ham have conceded more second-half goals, while they’ve also let in a league-high 11 in the last 10 minutes of games.
Premier League Best Bets: N Forest v Wolves
I’m going back to Yerson Mosquera in the shots markets for our props pick. Mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the Colombian centre-back racked up three more shots at the weekend against Chelsea, meaning he’s now had 11 in his last four outings. Mosquera has become Wolves’ main target on set-plays in recent times (all three of those efforts on Saturday were headers) and it’s notable that he now goes up against a Forest defence that has given up more SP shots than any other side, bar West Ham.
He’s had at least one shot in six of his last seven games so taking the 1.7 looks a decent-enough play, while I’m also looking to ‘ladder’ this bet by also backing 2+ shots at a chunky 3.75. That’s occurred in four of those seven, including three of the last four.
