This weekend’s selection takes us to the City Ground for Nottingham Forest vs Bournemouth. As two long-suffering (until recently, at least!) Forest fans, we’re quietly confident of a steady but unspectacular season this time around. The summer additions for Forest have been measured and targeted, which has provided a much less exciting but welcome transfer window after the scattergun chaos of the last couple of years.

Forest have pretty much got a fully fit team to choose from and have managed to keep hold of all their key players. This has been reflected in strong pre-season results, culminating in a 4-3 win away at Olympiakos last week. The same can’t be said for Bournemouth, who have been dealt a major blow with talisman Dominic Solanke leaving for Spurs. Solanke’s 19 league goals last season accounted for 35% of Bournemouth’s overall total. That’s a big hole to fill, so we’re happy to go against Bournemouth for the first couple of weeks whilst they figure themselves out in their new post-Solanke world.
Forest’s main man up top will be Chris Wood, scorer of 11 goals across the final 20 games of last season. It’s decent form that he continued through pre-season too, with 3 goals coming in 5 games. Back at the City Ground for opening day with the home crowd in full voice, we’re backing him to continue his rich vein of form.
