Premier League Best Bets: Huge Matchday 36 Preview

Premier League Best Bets: Wolves v Brighton

Admittedly, we got our fingers burned last week when getting involved with a team with nothing to play for – even considering the expected changes, champions Liverpool were frankly disappointing at Chelsea. However, I’m prepared to try again here with Wolves, whose motivation probably won’t be as high as Europe-chasing Brighton. That said, Wolves were far from ‘on the beach’ last weekend when they were somewhat unfortunate to leave Manchester City with nothing to show for their efforts.

That 1-0 loss ended a run of six straight wins but they still played well, hitting the woodwork twice despite losing Jorgen Strand Larsen to injury. The Norwegian, who has six goals in his last six games, is set to return for this one. That’s not good news for a leaky Brighton defence, which has conceded 14 goals across the last six games, only one of which has been won. The Seagulls could easily have lost to Newcastle last week and look vulnerable to an in-form home team here.

Premier League Best Bets: Nottingham Forest v Leicester

Jamie Vardy ended a scoring drought last week and that may just spark him – and Leicester – into life for the run-in. Yes, the Foxes will be back in the Championship next season and so have little to play for in that sense. However, Vardy is now just one goal shy of 200 for the club and his team-mates were openly talking about helping him to that target following last week’s victory over Southampton. Of course, Forest should be much tougher opponents but the pressure is massively on them ahead of what is a must-win match for their Champions League hopes.

Having spent virtually all season in the top five, they’ve now slipped outside with just three games to go and nothing less than three points against an already-relegated team will do. The reason for the wobble is, of course, poor form. It’s just one win in six for Forest with, significantly, no clean sheet kept in that run. Leicester would love nothing more than to stop their Midlands rivals from achieving their goal and the narky Vardy is exactly the sort of player who will be motivated by that. Throw in his landmark chase and last week’s confidence boost and Vardy looks worth a bet in the anytime goalscorer market at 4.1.

Premier League Best Bets: Ipswich v Brentford

Michael Kayode caught the eye with a fine attacking performance from right-back in Brentford’s 4-3 victory over Manchester United last week. In what was only the on-loan Fiorentina star’s third Premier League start, he got into some great forward positions, resulting in one assist. Only a technicality denied him two.

Brentford, still eyeing European football, have been full of goals this season, while Ipswich have struggled to keep them out so we can expect the Bees to be scoring multiple goals once more. Notably, they’ve scored 20 in their five games so far against the relegated sides.

Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo have been scoring for fun, while Kevin Schade struck twice last weekend to move into double figures, too. In short, Kayode has targets to find with his balls – and long throws – into the box. Ipswich have conceded 2+ goals in their last seven Premier League games – and in 70% of their home matches this season. For me, Kayode just looks a big price here for an assist at 7.83.
