Premier League Best Bets: Andy Schooler’s Expert Tips for Matchday 30
Premier League Best Bets: Newcastle v Brentford
For spot of value on the midweek Premier League match coupon, try Brentford. The Bees have won their last five away league games and have a front line capable of troubling any defence in the league. Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo are both enjoying strong goalscoring seasons, with Mikkel Damsgaard the creator in behind.
Both sides have European ambitions as we head into the final straight but it’s notable that the Magpies have already lost at home to several of their rivals for those qualification spots – Brighton, Fulham and Bournemouth have all won at St James’ Park. Newcastle haven’t played since their Carabao Cup final two and a half weeks ago, a success they were celebrating in the city on Saturday. You have to wonder if the unusual events of the past fortnight could have an effect here and, at the price, the visitors make some appeal.
Premier League Best Bets: Nottingham Forest v Manchester United
I’m going down the big-price route this week and am also happy to take a punt on Nikola Milenkovic to score in this one. Here’s why. Forest have been one of the most dangerous Premier League teams from set plays this season – they are second for goals scored from such situations and are also in the top four for set-piece shots and set-piece expected goals (SPxG). And, to make the bet, United are struggling defending them. Only two sides have conceded more goals from set-pieces this season, while they are also in the top four for set-piece expected goals against (SPxGA).
In addition, Milenkovic was among the scorers in the reverse fixture, won 3-2 by Forest in December. That was the first of a 15-match run in which the Serb has scored four times, including against Ipswich in Forest’s least league outing. Those are stats which make the 8.5 on offer in the anytime scorer market enticing.
Premier League Best Bets: Bournemouth v Ipswich
Milos Kerkez has assisted in his last three Premier League games, catching the eye with some excellent crosses into the penalty area. The Hungarian left-back should get chances to add to his tally here for although the Cherries have lost three in a row at home in the league – plus Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester City – this looks a fixture they should dominate. Ipswich have garnered just two points from a possible 30 in 2025 and now look doomed to relegation – they are nine points from safety with nine games to play.
They’ve been too easy to score against, conceding 62 in 29 games, the third-worst record in the top flight. Even in 10th place, Bournemouth remain firmly in the hunt for Champions League football but if that is to be achieved this is must-win so don’t expect any complacency. Having missed Sunday’s Cup defeat through suspension, Kerkez is likely to come straight back in and should get into areas from where he can deliver those devilish crosses.
