After two winners from three bets in midweek, Andy Schooler returns with this week’s Premier League Best Bets ahead of this week’s huge top-flight action.
Premier League Best Bets: PL Tips, Jan 23rd 2026
Brentford have won seven of 11 at home in this season’s Premier League and only the top two have scored more goals at their own stadium. Igor Thiago is playing like a man possessed and, given the pair’s current form, should not be ruled out of catching Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race.
Premier League Best Bets: Brentford v Nott’ Forest
Overall, the Europe-chasing Bees have collected 11 more points than Forest, who remain too close to the drop zone for comfort. The visitors have Thursday’s trip to Portugal (where they lost to Braga) to recover from and so far this season they’ve lost four of six games which have come directly after a Europa League outing, including both away matches without scoring.
They may be odds-on but I still feel there’s value in Brentford’s price, particularly when considering Villa, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle and Sunderland have all already lost at the Gtech.
Premier League Best Bets: Everton v Leeds
We’re off to Merseyside for this week’s goalscorer pick but it’s not going to be Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who looks sure to prove a popular pick to haunt his former club. Instead, it’s the home side’s form striker who looks worth siding with given his recent run.
Thierno Barry was signed on the back of his goalscoring efforts at Villarreal last season. It’s taken him a while to adapt to the Premier League but now fans are beginning to see those capabilities. Barry has scored in three of his last four starts – and four of his last seven – and now seems a happy individual, rather than one cutting a dejected figure on the field.
The worry is Everton’s inconsistency, but they have scored against every bottom-half team they’ve faced at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the exception of Spurs, and they’ve bagged multiple goals in four of those seven matches. Leeds have picked up – they are on a run of one defeat in nine – but they are also winless in eight on the road. Only Bournemouth and Burnley have conceded more away goals and so centre-forward Barry may well be able to capitalise on that defensive frailty.
Premier League Best Bets: Arsenal v Man Utd
Patrick Dorgu was a player who profited from Ruben Amorim’s insistence on playing a 3-5-2 formation, raiding forward as a wing-back. But since the Portuguese left, the Dane has been employed even further forward – essentially among the forward line at times – and I’m not sure the markets have caught up.
Admittedly, United are away to the league leaders here, which is why they are out at 5.2 for the win, but if the deliver a performance such as last week’s against Manchester City, they should be competitive. That derby effort was lauded as one of the club’s best in years and stand-in boss Michael Carrick looks to have had an immediate impact.
Of course, United have taken one step forward and then two back on too many occasions over the past decade or so but they will surely head into this clash thinking they can do something at the Emirates. And, if they do, Dorgu may well have a prominent role to play.
He’s 2.35 for over 1.5 shots, which is worth considering as he’s landed this in four of his last six games, but it’s his double-figure price in the anytime assist market which really catches the eye. Dorgu has had two assists in his last six Premier League starts and is clearly playing in a more advanced role than for much of the campaign. Of course, Arsenal’s defensive strength is well known but as suggested above, I feel a buoyant United could have a big part to play in this contest.
