Arsenal FC Transfers: 5 Strikers to Solve Their Attacking Problems

Premier League Best Bets

A lack of goals has severely hampered the Arsenal FC Premier League title push and the Gunners are crying out for attacking reinforcements in the coming months.

Arsenal FC Transfers: 5 Strikers to Solve Their Attacking Problems

Injuries to forwards Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka haven’t helped matters, but Mikel Arteta will no doubt look to strengthen his squad in the summer, and we take a look at five potential new Arsenal strikers.

Arsenal FC Targets: Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal reportedly had an approach for Benjamin Sesko turned down in the winter transfer window, but the Gunners could renew interest in the summer. The 21-year-old has scored 17 goals in 33 appearances for Leipzig this season and the Slovenian is one of Europe’s hottest prospects.

There is no release clause in the contract Sesko signed with Leipzig last summer, but there is an expectation that the German side would be willing to do business should they receive an appropriate offer.

Arsenal FC Targets: Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins was the subject of a £40 million bid from Arsenal in the winter transfer window but Aston Villa were not willing to entertain the 29-year-old leaving at that price.  The England forward will turn 30 later this year, and perhaps the Gunners will switch their attention after their January approach failed, but it was clear that Watkins was a player who Arteta was interested in bringing to the Emirates.

Arsenal FC Targets: Alexander Isak

Only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have scored more than the 19 Premier League goals Alexander Isak has registered this season and the Newcastle forward has dazzled this term.  The Swedish striker has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past and the 25-year-old has notched twice against the Gunners in the current campaign.

Isak would bring goals, pace and an excellent all-round game to north London, but it has been suggested that the Swedish forward would come with a £100 million price tag and Newcastle do not appear keen to let their star man leave the north east.

Arsenal FC Targets: Dusan Vlahovic

Dusan Vlahovic cost Juventus €80 million when the Old Lady signed the striker from Fiorentina in 2022 and the 25-year-old has scored 42 goals in 95 appearances for Juve.  However, the striker’s contract expires at the end of next season, and Juventus will be eager to sell him if he doesn’t agree to an extension. The Serbian hasn’t been a regular starter for Juve this season, and with doubts over Vlahovic’s future at the club, Arsenal are naturally going to be linked to the forward.

Arsenal FC Targets: Jean-Philippe Mateta

Arsenal sold Eddie Nketiah to Crystal Palace for £30 million in the summer, but Arteta’s interest could lie with the man who is keeping the former Gunners forward out of the Eagles line-up. Jean-Philippe Mateta has scored 15 goals in 32 appearances for Palace this season and that followed 19 strikes last term.  The Frenchman brings a strong physical presence to the attacking line of the Eagles and the 27-year-old has plenty of good years ahead of him.
