Premier League 2024/2025 Season: 5 Super Stories to Watch

Man City v Southampton

The 2024/25 Premier League season is fast approaching, with Manchester United taking on Fulham at Old Trafford in the opening fixture on Friday 16th August.

Premier League 2024/2025: 5 Stories of the Season

Manchester City are looking to win an unprecedented five league titles in a row, while the likes of Southampton, Ipswich Town and Leicester City will all be looking to avoid the fates of Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town suffered in dropping back down to the Championship after one season. Below we look at the five stories we believe could be told in another stellar English top flight campaign

Premier League 2024/2025: City’s Time?

Manchester City are looking for a fifth consecutive Premier League crown, but the improvements of their title rivals could see their dominant run come to an end in May.

Arsenal pushed the Citizens all the way last season and are hotly-tipped to go one better this time around, while Liverpool, under new manager Arne Slot, continue to look strong in pre-season and should trouble the reigning champions once again.

Premier League 2024/2025: Brilliant Blues?

Chelsea ended last season strongly after a difficult first few months under Mauricio Pochettino. However the Argentinian’s departure, combined with another flurry of incoming signings, could bring with it further turmoil in West London.

Eight players have been signed this summer at the time of writing – still eight fewer than the number brought in last summer – and it may take time for these players to gel in the opening weeks of the campaign, while new boss Enzo Maresca may have too big of a squad to effectively manage.

Premier League 2024/2025: Top Tractor Boys

Back-to-back promotions have seen Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town return to the Premier League for the first time since 2002 and the Tractor Boys could find themselves comfortably clear of the relegation zone at the end of the campaign.

Shrewd signings such as Ben Johnson from West Ham as well as Omari Hutchinson returning on a permanent basis will be of a huge benefit to McKenna’s men and the likes of Leif Davis and George Hirst could have the attacking quality to keep the East Anglian outfit away from danger.

Premier League 2024/2025: Popular Palace

Crystal Palace looked a force to be reckoned with under Oliver Glasner in the closing stages of last season, winning six of their last seven games, and the South Londoners could be a real dark horse in pushing for a Conference League spot.

At the time of writing, they still have Eberechi Eze among their ranks, while Jean-Phillippe Mateta netted 16 goals last season – 11 more than his previous Palace best – and they have made real statements in the transfer market. Expect the Eagles to trouble many and do not be surprised if they are in the European picture come April.

Premier League 2024/2025: Sack Race

A number of managers head into the new season already under pressure and it may not be too long before we see the first casualty of the campaign. Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag, Nottingham Forest’s Nuno Espirito Santo and Chelsea’s Maresca are all realistically under pressure and, if results are not positive from the offset, their position could be in real trouble.
