Premier League Darts Predictions Week 8

The Premier League’s eight stars are at the 3Arena in Dublin this week at the halfway point of the 2024 competition and we have delved into some Premier League Darts Predictions.

Seven rounds down and world champion Luke Humphries leads the way and he’s 3.00 to complete a hat-trick of Thursday night successes in the Emerald Isle.

First, Humphries has to take care of Peter Wright in the quarter-finals, which also see Nathan Aspinall take on Rob Cross, Michael van Gerwen play Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith slug it out with Luke Littler.

Cool Hand to dish out another hiding

Humphries thrashed Wright 6-1 when they met in Nottingham last week and it’s hard to see Snakebite closing the gap by much in Dublin. Humphries is a 1.16 chance which seems plenty short enough, but Wright has won only one game in seven weeks and is miles away from his best form.

The reigning world champion has hit ton-plus averages in 12 of the 15 games he has played in this his debut year and has banged in 52 180s compared to Wright’s 20. Humphries hit four 180s against Wright last week, the Scot replying with two of his own, so take the Englishman -1.5 on the 180s handicap at 2.05.

Aspinall has Cross’ number

Match two features the players in fourth and fifth in the table, Aspinall and Cross. Both men are on 11 points so there really is nothing between them – except when it comes to head-to-heads. These rivals have met three times in the past four weeks in the Premier League and Aspinall has won all three. He beat Cross 6-4 in Newcastle in week four, 6-2 in the final in Exeter a week later and then 6-5 last week in Nottingham.

By any measure that’s an impressive show of domination – yet he’s still the outsider for their fourth showdown this Thursday. Get on The Asp at 2.05.

Van Gerwen value to land maximum honours

Old rivals and former world No.1s Van Gerwen and Price played out a high-quality affair when they met in week four, with the Dutchman getting up 6-4 and throwing a 107 average. That was en route to Van Gerwen’s third successive Thursday night triumph though since then he has not won a match in three weeks.

He has been struggling with a shoulder problem but seems well enough and he’s still in better form than Price, who hasn’t won a match in the last four weeks and has dropped to seventh place in the standings. Their first meeting in Newcastle saw them pile in nine maximums, five for Van Gerwen, who is the outsider in a 180s matchbet. And that’s despite the fact that he is hitting a maximum every 3.1 legs, Gezzy every four.

Smith can stop Littler in his tracks

The odds of 2.85 about Smith beating Littler are almost insulting.

These two have met three times in this year’s Premier League and Smith has won two of those clashes, yet he’s still a massive price to beat the 17-year-old once more.

Littler is the model of consistency in his debut campaign, but Smith is a recent world champion and world No.1 and is being under-rated.
