Andy Schooler had two winners (and a push) last weekend. Now he’s back to preview the latest round of Premier League action…
Premier League Best Bets: EPL Tips, December 12th 2025
I know it’s hard to be particularly confident about Spurs to do anything but I do feel there could be some value in backing them at the City Ground. Thomas Frank’s side have the joint-best away record in the league, averaging exactly two points per game so far, winning four of seven, those victories coming at Manchester City, Everton, Leeds and West Ham.
Premier League Best Bets: Nottingham Forest v Tottenham
They’ve scored 15 goals in those matches (again the joint-best away figure) and now they face a side who have struggled on their own patch – Forest are 18th in the home table and have conceded 13 times. While the hosts have picked up under Sean Dyche, the fact is he’s still won only one of the three home Premier League games since his appointment. Forest also have the Thursday-Sunday turnaround to deal with, meaning Spurs have had two extra days to prepare.
So far this term, Forest have lost four of five games which have come immediately after Europa League matches and while several star names were left out of the starting XI in Utrecht on Thursday, they still made the journey with the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Nikola Milenkovic and Elliot Anderson all coming on in the second half. With Spurs coming into this contest on the back of home wins over Brentford and Slavia Prague, they look in decent shape to claim another away-day success.
Premier League Best Bets: Liverpool v Brighton
Forward Dominic Calvert Lewin delivered us a winner last weekend but we’re going back to a big-priced defender for this week’s goalscorer pick. Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke already has three goals this season, while the Dutchman has managed seven shots in his last five games. Essentially, he’s a big set-piece threat for the Seagulls, who now come up against a side struggling to defend such situations – only West Ham have conceded more goals from set plays than Liverpool’s 10.
Arne Slot’s men did put their recent woes to one side in midweek to beat Inter Milan but anyone thinking their problems are over should remember that last month they also saw off Real Madrid 1-0 before shipping 10 goals in their next three games. That probably won’t happen again but Liverpool’s defence is not what it was and, for me, Van Hecke looks a chunky price to score at 15.0.
Premier League Best Bets: Nottingham Forest v Tottenham
I try not to pick multiple bets from one game but I’m keen on siding with Spurs’ Archie Gray right now. The teenager is finally getting games in his preferred midfield position and has started four of Tottenham’s last five in that role. The last two have been won without conceding so I see no reason why he’ll be bumped back to the bench for this one. I’m happy to back him for 1+ shot at 1.72. This is something Gray has managed in three of his last four starts – and Forest are fifth for shots conceded in this season’s Premier League. But I’m also tempted by Gray for an assist at a big price.
While he operates pretty deep, recent games have seen Gray looking to get his team going forward and he hasn’t been afraid to play what some would consider a risky pass. That risk-reward strategy will likely pay off at some point and so getting almost 10/1 about Gray in the anytime assist market looks good. As highlighted above, no side has scored more away goals than Spurs so assists may well be on the cards.
