Dave Chisnall: Ally Pally or Bust, Oct 2025

At this point, I’m looking forward to the season finishing, and starting fresh in the New Year. I was unable to get any real momemtum midweek at the three tournaments in Wigan, winning two and losing two on the Pro Tour before then going out at the Last 32 stage in the qualifying for the Grand Slam.

Dave Chisnall: Wigan Woes

I mentioned last week, but it feels a little bit cursed this season; I was up and comfortable v Martin Schindler and he came through with a peach of a leg in the decider last week in Dortmund. My point wasn’t necessarily about the result or the scoreline, but about getting to that point in the first place. I lost 6-4 to Jeffrey de Graaf on Wednesday but in all honesty should have been 3-0 up and it was missed doubles that let me down again.

Thursday was better, defeating Jules Van Dongen and Graham Hall before losing 6-1 to Danny Noppert. And again, I didn’t play that badly. I threw really well there too, but Danny took out some big doubles and finished strongly in the last few legs. Darts is one of those sports that can really punish you when not in it, and with the competition stronger than ever you need to be on your game because the depth of talent is so strong these days.

Dave Chisnall: Grand Slam Qualifying

Nothing proves that more than Friday’s qualifying for the Grand Slam in Wigan, and first of all it’s nice to see my mate BullyBoy banking a spot down in Wolverhampton. Michael has had a bit of a torrid year like myself, because he’s a class act and will no doubt be back. Me meanwhile, I felt good in the first couple of games, and got some revenge on Barney in a 5-2 win to make it through to the Last 32.

The game v Wessel Nijman probably sums my season up to be honest. Those legs in the middle,  I was averaging 125 and still only one one leg. I should have been in a nice lead early, but fair play to the lad his darts in the last few legs was mustard. And that’s what I mean about the next crop of players coming through. They’ve very, very good.

I’ll be in action in a few weeks in the Players Championship finals, before heading to Ally Pally in December for the Worlds. Otherwise it’s a quiet couple of months for me! Fingers crossed we put a line through this season and move onto 2026. Onwards and upwards!
