Dave Chisnall is back with kwiff, discussing his recent Players Championship action after a couple of successful days on the Pro Tour in Hildesheim. Read Chizzy’s exclusive thoughts in his latest column.

Dave Chisnall: Players Championship Darts

I was a busy boy last weekend, playing an exhibition down at Griffin Park, the home of Brentford FC in West London and then in Germany for another on Saturday before the return of The Pro Tour in Hildesheim.

Generally, I’ve got a good record out there so I was looking to playing, and The Players Championship has always been very good to me. My TV form hasn’t been great, and I get plenty of keyboard warriors reminding of such, but its been my results on the Pro Tour and Euro Tour that has really kept us going the last few years.

Players Championship: Lady Luck

Therefore, it was good to kind of get it started properly, getting to the Last 32 on Monday before losing in the Quarter-Finals to Ryan Searle on Tuesday. You need a bit of luck in this format and  I managed to get some for a change.

With Chris Landman leading me 5-1 and sat on 25 I managed to take out 161 on the bull to win the leg, and rattle off the next 4 on the spin to win 6-2 and make it through to the Last 32. All it takes is something like that to spark your season into life and I followed that win by beating James Wade 6-5 and Darryl Gurney 6-3 to setup a match with my Harrows team-mate Ryan Searle in the Quarters.

The game should have been closer than it was with me 3-1 and sat on a two-dart finish but I fluffed my lines and Ryan took out 268 (168 and 100) in six darts to punish me and it was game over after that.

Players Championship: Wigan

My game was good though, I thought I played really well. My scoring has always been decent but my doubles were much better. There were plenty of darts going in on Double 10, but then again that means I’m missing plenty on tops lol!

I’m in Hemsby this weekend for more exhibitions before back to more Players Championship darts next week in Wigan. I know I sound like a bit of a broken record but I love the events up in Wigan because I can get the train and be back in my own bed and back to see the wife and kids after playing. Little things like that can make a big difference, so fingers crossed we can continue the decent form showed in Germany when a bit more closer to home.

Have a great weekend all!
