Dave Chisnall narrowly missed out on a place at The World Grand Prix 2025 darts but has been keeping an eye on Leicester’s action, and gives his predictions as the tournament enters it’s closing stages.
Dave Chisnall: World Grand Prix 2025 Preview
It’s been a quiet week for me, and there’s a little bit of disbelief I’m not at this week’s Grand Prix to be honest. I’ve only got myself to blame, so I won’t be using this as a place to vent or have a moan. I shouldn’t have been anywhere near this position, but here we are.
I’ve been watching this week’s action and it’s felt a little bit flat so far, so I’m hoping the Quarter-Finals should spark the tournament into life somewhat. I, like most others out there, will be really looking forward to Littler v Gezzy. I think plenty of players are beat before they even step onto the stage v Luke. It’s quite incredible what he has done in an already fantastic career. He could retire and have achieved more than most.
That’s not Gezzy though, and he’s not one to be intimidated. He took so much stick at the start of his career and celebrations etc and was really forced to dig in and step out of the pantomime villain role he often portrayed on stage. He has come back from a poor year last season to play some fantastic darts this season, and is sure to give Luke a run for his money for a place in the final four.
Quarter-Finals: World Grand Prix 2025
Of the other quarter-finals, I think experience will prove vital, and think both Gary (Anderson) and Johnny (Clayton) will get through their respective games, and will be rounded off in the last 4 with the other Luke. Cool Hand remains the overlooked man in darts, not that he is too bothered by that, and is such a nice bloke.
Humphries was unlucky in the final 12 months ago when giving Mike de Decker too much of a lead but alongside his namesake is the most dangerous man in the sport. If the sponsors have their way, I’m sure they’ll be cheering on an all-Luke affair in the final come Sunday.
I’m heading to Wigan for a couple of days of Pro Tour action next week. Wish me luck, I could do with it!
