PDC World Darts Championship 2025: Huge Semi-Finals Preview

PDC World Championship

Only four players are left standing at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship and a raucous Alexandra Palace crowd are set for two cracking semi-final showdowns on Thursday.  Fireworks are guaranteed in the capital with just three games separating the incumbent World Champion from lifting the Sid Waddell trophy aloft at the palace on Friday.

PDC World Darts Championship 2025: Huge Semi-Finals Preview

Chris Dobey and three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen get the ball rolling before Luke Littler and Stephen Bunting do battle for a place in Friday’s final.  We have a selection in each of tonight’s semi-final contests.  Three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen is on the hunt for a fourth world title and the Green Machine’s pedigree has to be taken seriously as he prepares to take on Chris Dobey.

PDC World Darts Championship 2025: 180s Fancied

The floor form of Hollywood over the last 18 months has given clear indication that Dobey is now an elite-level performer, but can the Bedlington boy produce under the extreme pressure of a semi-final showdown against Van Gerwen? Dobey is fortunate to still be in the event after missing a host of doubles and scrambling through against Kevin Doets in round four and there were also clear signs of nerves against Gerwyn Price in the QFs.

Hollywood is a far better player than he showed in those two matches, but he now faces a player who is proven on the big stage and is back operating at something like his peak after a lean year. Mighty Mike averaged 103.10 in a top-level quarter-final against Callan Rydz following on from a three-dart figure of 101.98 in his round-four win over Jeffrey de Graaf.

MvG is a worthy favourite but Dobey is certainly capable of pushing him all the way. So a lengthy match is definitely a possibility and that increases the likelihood of there being plenty of 180s. Van Gerwen hit 14 maximums in his last-eight clash with Rydz while Dobey registered 12 in his quarter-final with Price, so a line of 25.5 should be in the pair’s compass over the best of 11 sets.

PDC World Darts Championship 2025: 180s Fancied

Luke Littler is a red-hot 1.15 favourite to make his second World Championship final in a row, but a semi-final date with Stephen Bunting is definitely no gimme.  The Nuke averaged 101.54 in his 5-2 quarter-final win over Nathan Aspinall, but the scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story of the match. The Asp should have levelled the game at 2-2 but missed his chance and quickly fell 4-1 behind.

Bunting, however, may not be as charitable.  The Bullet undoubtedly has the game to trouble Littler and the Merseyside man has dropped only four sets on his way to the last four at Alexandra Palace. The Nuke’s explosive brilliance may be enough to win the match but Bunting looks a solid handicap proposition in receipt of a 3.5-set start.
