He has displayed no nerves since evaluating himself to the top of the game and his tee-to-green game is superior to anyone else tackling Pinehurst this week. This year, he has ironed out what had been a few issues on the greens and having won the Players Championship and the Masters this year, he has shown he flourishes on the big occasion, so expect him to be right up there again.

Collin Morikawa was Scheffler’s closest rival at Muirfield Village last week and the two-time Major winner has been knocking on the door for a while, so this could be his week that he finally breaks through. Morikawa was third and the Masters and fourth at the US PGA and the demands for accuracy and strong iron-play at Pinehurst should be music to his ears, as this is one track where his relative lack of length off the tee will not be a huge handicap.
He was also ninth at the RBC Heritage in a top field and fourth at the Charles Schwab Challenge, so there is a feeling that things are coming together and he looks a strong shout to add the US Open to his collection of the game’s biggest prizes @ 12.70 with kwiff.

One player to keep a close eye on further down the betting is Christiaan Bezuidenhout. The South African’s confidence will have received a huge boost after his fourth spot at the Memorial and that was the eighth occasion in his last nine showings that he has finished 30th or better.
He has the skill set to do well at Pinehurst and while it would be a huge surprise if he took the trophy, a top-ten finish looks without his capabilities at 7.90 with kwiff, with two successive finishes of 13th at the Players also providing encouragement.
