The latest designated PGA Tour event takes place this week, with a very strong field heading to Ohio for The Memorial Tournament 2024. There is a huge $4million up for grabs for the winner, as the world’s best players tee it up at the iconic Muirfield Village course.
Nine of the top 10 golfers in the rankings will be part of the field including world number one Scottie Scheffler, who goes in search of a fifth PGA Tour title of 2024. Two of the last four Memorial winners have been from Europe, including last year’s champion Viktor Hovland, who will be back to defend his title.
Back Rory McIlroy to win The Memorial Tournament 2024 @ 9.30
The likes of Hovland, Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay and Bryson DeChambeau have all won this tournament over the last six years. There’s no Rory McIlroy on the list of winners, although the Northern Irishman has a decent record at Muirfield Village and will head there full of confidence.
McIlroy has already won twice following his Masters frustration and his performance at last week’s Canadian Open suggests another victory might not be far away. The Ryder Cup star finished T4 in Hamilton, helped by an impressive display over the weekend, when he carded rounds of 65 on Saturday and 64 on Sunday. He also has a good recent record at this event, with a T7 finish for McIlroy last year and a T18 spot at both the 2022 and 2021 Memorial Tournament.
Back Collin Morikawa to win The Memorial Tournament 2024 @ 9.30
Having come close to winning this event in 2021, Collin Morikawa could go one better this year and take the title at Muirfield Village. The 27-year-old lost in a play-off to two-time champion Cantlay three years ago, despite carding two rounds of 66 that week.
Morikawa withdrew through injury ahead of last year’s final round, due to back spasms, having been just two shots off the lead. The two-time Major winner is in better form and better health 12 months later, highlighted by his last six tournaments, which have seen him finish
4-T4-T16-T23-9-T3.
Morikawa is currently ranked second on Tour for Driving Accuracy and eighth on Overall Putting Average.

After a stellar year in 2022, when he won two PGA Tour events in the month of May, Sam Burns has not kicked on as many expected. The 27-year-old has recently dropped outside of the world’s top 25, but there are signs that the man from Louisiana is getting back to his best.
In the last month Burns has had two top-15 finishes including a T10 spot at the Canadian Open, after making a quick start. The American Ryder Cup star carded an opening round 63 in Hamilton to leave him tied second after day one, eventually finishing nine shots off winner Robert MacIntyre. Burns also enjoyed a decent showing at Muirfield Village last year, finishing T16 on level par despite all four rounds being in the 70s.
