Masters Golf Winners: 5 Last Green Jacket Winners
Tiger Woods’ love affair with Augusta started in 1997 when he stormed to his first Green Jacket by winning by 12 shots and his win in 2019 was one few anticipated they would see again as his last Masters triumph had come some 14 years before. Woods had been plagued by a back injury but put himself into the mix with a Saturday 67, which left him tied for second with Tony Finau, two shots behind Italian Francesco Molinari.

A 70 was enough for Woods to triumph as both Molinari and Finau were unable to stay the course and a 15th Major title was secured by one shot from the American trio of Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele.
Masters Golf Winners: Dustin Johnson (2020)
Johnson was finally able to get his hands on a Green Jacket but had to wait until the autumn of 2020 before the great tournament could be staged due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The softer than usual conditions allowed Johnson to post a record 72-hole score of 268, which was -20, having set himself up with an opening 65, which shared the first-round lead with England’s Paul Casey and South African Dylan Frittelli.
Another round of 65 on the Saturday allowed DJ to open a four-shot lead going into the final round and he boosted that to a five-stroke winning margin with South Korea’s Sungjae Im and Australia’s Cameron Smith putting up the stiffest challenge
Masters Golf Winners: Hideki Matsuyama (2021)
It was a landmark occasion in 2021 when the golf-mad nation of Japan was finally able to celebrate its first Major champion when Hideki Matsuyama won at Augusta. As the tournament returned to its traditional April berth in the calendar, a first-round 69 was enough to keep Matsuyama in touch with leader Justin Rose, who stormed to a four-shot advantage.
A second-round 71 was disappointing for the eventual winner, but a Saturday 65 pushed him to the top of the leaderboard and even though there were a few nerves when he carded a closing 73, it was enough to win by one from American Will Zalatoris.
Masters Golf Winners: Scottie Scheffler (2022 & 2024)
Scottie Scheffler has been the main man in golf circles for the last few years and the world number one was able to secure two Green Jackets in 2022 and 2024. The first triumph came just two months after Scheffler had claimed his maiden PGA Tour success at the Phoenix Open and the Texan came out on top, three shots ahead of Rory McIlroy.
Then, in 2024, the margin of victory was four shots when he held back the challenge of Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, who was playing in his first Major championship.
Masters Golf Winners: Jon Rahm (2023)
Jon Rahm joined Seve Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal and Sergio Garcia as a Spanish Masters champion as he overhauled Brooks Koepka on the final day to triumph by four shots. Koepka had gone into the final round two shots ahead but carded a closing 75 as Rahm took control and three-time Green jacket winner Phil Mickelson rolled back the years with a fourth-round 65 to share the runner-up spot.
