F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix: Norris can win big in Vegas
From the heavy rain in Brazil to the bone-dry Mojave Desert, the F1 circus heads to Nevada this weekend for the highly anticipated Las Vegas Grand Prix. It’s just the second year of this race on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen winning the inaugural race in 2023.
Verstappen heads into this year’s race on the back of an impressive win in soaking conditions in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, which ended a ten-race winless run for the Dutchman. However, rain won’t be a factor in Vegas, meaning the raw speed of title rival Lando Norris could see the battle for the 2024 Drivers’ Championship continue for at least a little while longer.

While it was a superb performance from Verstappen in Brazil, there is no chance wet conditions will play in his favour this weekend in Nevada. Sunday will be all about raw speed and how the drivers can get the marginal gains out of every corner on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit.
Verstappen does not have the same dominance he enjoyed in previous years, as was shown by his recent ten-race winless streak before taking the chequered flag in Sao Paulo. Norris gets the nod for the race win this Sunday on the back of his race-winning performance at the Singapore Grand Prix in September. In a similar contest to Las Vegas in terms of it being a night race on a street circuit, Norris impressed at Marina Bay in Singapore and has the car to claim the victory in Nevada this weekend.
F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix Tip 2: Oscar Piastri podium finish @ 3.05
Oscar Piastri will be eager to get back on the podium after missing out on a top-three finish in the last three races. Piastri had previously been on a consistent spell of podium finishes, coming in the top three in Italy, Azerbaijan and Singapore. The man from Melbourne has landed seven podium finishes and the Aussie racer can land another top-three finish in Vegas this weekend. Piastri impressed in Singapore with a third-place finish and the McLaren driver is well priced to be back on the podium on Sunday.
F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix Tip 3: Fernando Alonso top-six finish @ 4.65
Without a podium finish this season, Fernando Alonso has hardly had the campaign he would have been hoping for with Aston Martin. However, Alonso has been among the points with 12 top-ten finishes this season.
The last of his four top-six finishes this term on the street circuit at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in September. Alonso seems to be getting more out of his Aston Martin on street tracks and the circuit on the Las Vegas Strip could play into the hands of the two-time world champion this weekend for a top-six finish.
