The revamped PDC World Masters gets underway on Thursday evening and there are two nights of first-round action to look forward to.
PDC World Masters 2025: Round 1 Tips from MK
Friday sets up eight intriguing round one matches and we have a trio of selections to enhance the Milton Keynes play. Cameron Menzies enjoyed made PDC breakthrough in 2024 and the Scot looks a good bet to down Dave Chisnall in round one.
PDC World Masters: Canny Cammy
Cammy collected his first Players Championship title last term and there were a string of top-level Pro Tour performances from the 35-year-old. There was big stage success too, with Menzies making the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam and there is no doubt the Glasgow arrowsmith has the ability to star at the Masters.
Cammy averaged 106.16 in a 2-0 victory over the excellent Gian van Veen to qualify for the Milton Keynes event and that may have been a more difficult tie than this first-round game with Chisnall. Chizzy was last seen struggling in defeat to Ricky Evans at the World Championship and the St Helens man looks vulnerable again.
PDC World Masters: Super Schindler
Martin Schindler won two European Tour events last season and the Wall is an arrowsmith on the rise. The German has been threatening a major breakthrough for sometime and Schindler looks capable of realising his potential against Jonny Clayton. The Ferret was once a top-level performer, but the 50-year-old suffered a series of early exits in major events last season, including when averaging only 89.12 and losing to Krzysztof Ratajski in the first round of last year’s Masters.
Schindler is on the up, Clayton is on the down slope and the German should probably be favourite to reach round two. World champion Luke Littler makes his first Masters appearance against Andy Baetens on Friday night and the Nuke can put on a scoring show. Only Gary Anderson was a more frequent maximum hitter than Littler on the Pro Tour last season and the 18-year-old was finding the treble for fun in last week’s Dutch Darts Masters.
The Warrington arrowsmith hit seven 180s in nine legs against Michael van Gerwen and it was another seven in 13 against Stephen Bunting. Andy Baetens was way down at number 111 of the most maximum scorers on the 2024 Pro Tour and Littler looks like a bet to give the Belgian a 2.5-start on the 180 handicap.
