World ranked Number 6 Dave Chisnall prepares for the PDC World Darts Championship 2025, and opens his tournament by playing ‘Rapid’ Ricky Evans at Alexandra Palace on Saturday.
Dave Chisnall – World Darts Championship 2025 Prep
We’re in good nick here, before travelling down to London tomorrow afternoon. The man flu has subsided a little bit, and I’ve been getting lots of practice in here at home. I’ve got three good mates who come round and help us practice, and hopefully get the game in top nick before Monday’s opener.
Dave Chisnall: Power Practice
Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday saw me put 7 hours in of practice and I’ve got myself in better shape, preparation wise anyway, than the last few years. I played well last year to get to the Quarter-Finals and thought I would have given Luke (Humphries) a better game if wasn’t full of the lurgy last year. But it’s one of those things, we’ll try and give it equally as good a go this time around.
The important thing is, the practice is good. The older I get, the more professional I take it. I was probably not as serious a few years ago, but the longer you’re at it, and wanting to win it, the more it means. I really hope the form from the practice board translates to the big stage, and then some folk are in bother!
Dave Chisnall: Fan Questions
‘If you hadn’t of become a pro darts player what would your profession be?’ @JB__Digger
I’m an all-rounder! Not sure, but luckily I can chuck a dart in the right direction lol!
‘Best chippy in town?’ @Jayne_Murray
There are two really nice chippies here in Morecambe, but Atkinson’s for me – it’s mint. Anyone who knows knows that I’m a curry person, more than a fish and chip kind of bloke. I could eat curry every day of the week and be a happy man. The hotter, the better!
‘Favourite buffet food?’ @AssonRichard
I do like a good buffet, but given the above – anything Indian related. If you get me one of those sharing platters with things like onion bhajis and samosas, then I’m a happy boy!
‘Are you going to win?’ @KidsPlayDarts
I hope so! I go into every tournament thinking I’m going to win, and this is no different, despite the size of it. It would mean a lot to become World Champion, but I honestly don’t look beyond the next game – I know football and managers have ruined that phrase now!
There have been some shocks, and I thought Kevin (Doets) played really well to knock Michael out last night. The fact that the likes of BullyBoy and Wadey are going out early, shows just how strong the fields are these days. There are no easy games – and I certainly won’t be taking Ricky lightly on Monday.
‘Who have you been practicing with for the Worlds?’ @SeanRua123
I have three mates come round and help us practice. I’m pretty sure they just come for the laugh, because I’m a bit better than them! THey’re good lads though, and it really relaxes me before a big tournament. Let’s see if it helps this week!
‘Which player would you least like to have a fight with?’ @FormulaCric
I’m a lover not a fighter! Not for me that game. But I suppose Gezzy, he’s a big lad. Andy Jenkins was supposed to be handy back in the day. Wouldn’t fancy upsetting either of them!
