Dave Chisnall is in Minehead ahead of this year’s UK Open 2025 still in the search for a maiden TV Title with the PDC. Read his exclusive preview with kwiff below.
Dave Chisnall: UK Open 2025 Preview
I tell you what, it’s a bit of a trek to go to Minehead! To get down here, it was a train from Morecambe to Birmingham, change to go to Taunton and then Roger picked me up to get here last on Thursday evening. It’s a bit of a minefield, and I’ve had some shocking luck with draws here in the past. I’ve pulled Gary Anderson’s name out of the hat twice the first round, Peter Wright twice, and MVG another time. I think I went out to most of these as well!
Dave Chisnall: UK Open History
I must have used most of my luck early doors because it’s my 15th year here at The UK Open, and I’m not getting any younger. It used to be great up at Bolton, and it helps that it’s just round the corner from me and I had some great support. My first two trips to The UK Open saw me reach the Quarter Finals and Semi-Finals and I felt I could have won it back in 2012. I lost to Robert Thornton, who went onto beat Phil (Taylor) in the final, when destiny seemed to be on his side.
Dave Chisnall: UK Open 2025
This year, it’s a different story and I’m one of the veterans on tour now. I feel like I’m repeating myself but the game is in good nick. I got a good night’s sleep on Thursday and it’s just a case of waiting around for the draw, and getting past the first round. The kids are back to school, and Liverpool are going to win the league, so we’re pretty happy at the minute!
If my doubles could go in with a bit more consistency and regularity, it would take a bit of the pressure off my scoring. I’ve always been pretty strong around Treble 20, but some games it’s nice to know you’ve got the ability to take doubles out with one dart in hand etc.
UK Open 2025: Main Protagonists
The Lukes will be all the rage but it’s important to remember the depth of talent on tour. The format of this means we’ve all got a chance if get a bit of luck with draws and timings etc. We all have a preferred time to play, that coincides with our normal practice routine, and all that sort of stuff helps. Plenty of good players have won this event in the past and I’d love to add my name to the roll of honour. I’m still chasing that first TV TItle success, and I’m hungrier than ever to do it in 2025! Wish me luck!
