Dave Chisnall is back from last week’s trip to Milton Keynes with trips to Brentford and Dusseldorf before the first Players Championship tournaments of the season. Read his latest diary, exclusively for kwiff.
Dave Chisnall: Back On The Road
The Premier League is back, which means the darts calendar is in full swing again this season. The months of February and March are really busy, but that really suits my game. I know they say iron sharpens iron, and there’s something to that with no better practice than actual match practice.
The Pro Tour kicks off on Monday in Hildesheim and I’m playing before that, at an exhibition tonight at Brentford’s Griffin Park Stadium and then travelling to GErmany tomorrow for another exhibition in Dusseldorf. It made sense to travel over with the need to be in Hildesheim on Monday so it fit into the schedule nicely.
Dave Chisnall: Masters Disappointment
Last week was a bit disappointing in Milton Keynes, going out to Luke Humphries in the second round, despite taking the opening set. I was a bit lucky to take the set with Luke missing a load of darts in the second and third legs to take the set but when somebody opens the door it’s up to you to walk through it.
He found another gear and played like the Champion he is thereafter, although I wasn’t helped by a few bounce outs. They weren’t even bounce outs by the exact definition, it was one darts wiping out others and sending them to the floor. It only seems to happen when the darts are in Treble 20 – it’s never when they’re in the bed either side!
My scoring was good and it’s just a start to the season. My practice has been good throughout the month of January and I wouldn’t have changed much else from what I’d done already. It’s just one of those things, and when you’re playing a play of Luke’s ability you need to be on your top, top game. I thought he played brilliantly throughout the whole of the tournament and was a bit unlucky not to be at Luke (Littler) in the final. The two are going to dominate the sport for a very long time.
Dave Chisnall: Fighting Fit
There was a bit of chatter only social media and Twitter about me and rumours about this and that but jus to clear up, no I haven’t been on the fat jabs! I had all sorts of messages asking about being Manjouro or whatever it’s called but no, I’ve just been looking after myself better, a bit less boozing, and watching what I eat.
The problem is I don’t think my manager Roger believed me that I’d shed a bit of weight and the shirt was hanging off me in Milton Keynes! Hopefully he’ll be sorting me out with a smaller size for Germany next week. But yes, I’m feeling good and doing alright. Hopefully that translates to the oche and we can enjoy a really successful 2026.
