Dave Chisnall: Players Championship Finals 2025 Preview

Dave Chisnall is back from a whistlestop tour of Ireland to challenge for the Players Championship finals this weekend in Minehead. Read Chizzy’s thoughts before the final tournament before the World Darts Championship next month at Alexandra Palace.

Dave Chisnall: Players Championship Finals 2025

I would be lying if I said I was happy with how this season has panned out. It started poor and I never really built up any momentum throughout the campaign. I fiddled with my darts a bit and have been searching for the right formula to produce my best darts on stage. The practice has been good, but I just haven’t been able to translate to either the stage or the floor.

Dave Chisnall: Season Climax

So many tournaments, especially on the Pro Tour, I was getting behind early and giving other players too much of a head start. You can’t do that to this current standard of player – especially in the current race to 6 format.

A part of me is glad the current season is coming to a finish, and itching to have a crack at Ally Pally and move onto next year. Blackpool was very disappointing again, and the run of Euro Tour successive defats was a bitter pill to swallow. I can make excuses and say I ran into a rampant and rejuvenated Raymond Van Barneveld in Budapest, or happened to bump into Luke Woodhouse when averaging 111 but a few of those other results and just me not chucking good enough.

Dave Chisnall: Minehead

The bookmakers have me as an underdog when facing Ryan Joyce on Friday afternoon and I prefer that mentality. It’s probably fair on the form shown this season so far however, I feel if I turn up and play my A game then I should be advancing. Ryan’s a good player and I won’t be taking him lightly but my practice has been good and especially my scoring.

Hopefully I will be there to see out the weekend because it’s a good tournament and I could do with banking some prize money and trying to break back into the top 16 in the world. My doubles have been my Achilles heel so far this season, and plenty others too mind you, so fingers crossed they behave themselves and I’ll advance to the next round.

Dave Chisnall: Thank You

Just a quick word to thank the fans the last week over in Ireland. I spent four days doing exhibitions and the fans couldn’t have been more welcoming. I’m very lucky to have some of the best fans in the world who are constantly supportive and always trying to cheer us on. Same with all the messages on social media, I see them all but just can’t reply to them. But they mean a lot thanks.
