Dave Chisnall Week 19: Euro 2024 Preview and Beyond

Dave Chisnall

Dave Chisnall sits down with kwiff to discuss his recent trips to Ireland and Germany, as well as upcoming Euro Tour action and his thoughts on England’s upcoming campaign in Euro 2024.

Dave Chisnall: Week in Darts

It was great craic as they say last week in Ireland, on a whistlestop tour around The Emerald Isle, playing five exhibitions in five days. The fans were so welcoming and I was so appreciative of how warm everyone was there. We did Dublin, Cavan, Waterford, Galway and then went across the country again (in a four hour drive by my manager/driver Roger) and was back in Dublin again Sunday night for another packed house.

It was great craic, but super tiring and I followed that up by two days in Germany (again) for another couple of Pro Tour that were pretty disastrous to be honest. I lost to Ian White, who played well on Day 1 but should have 100% won the opener on Day 2 against Haupai Puha. I played well scoring wise and had a good average (92) given the fact I could barely hit a double.

Dave Chisnall: Things Need to Improve

I was leading 2-0 and missed 7 darts to go 3-0 up and at that stage, it’s probably game over. He won the leg, got back to 2-2 and eventually won 6-3 and you’re left kicking yourself. Darts can be the most rewarding game when going well, but the most frustrating when it isn’t. And it’s as simple as that. I’m not used to doing many exhibitions these days, I prefer to be more selective, and five days away took it’s toll. I’ll learn from that mistake and only do the odd one. There’s a good one in Manchester December 6th with James Wade and Luke Littler actually, have a look for that!

It’s a quiet week for me on the practive board.  I’ll be giving it a fair old pounding before next week’s trip to Germany. I feel like I should have already bagged one of these Euro Tour events this season, and desperate to win one before (hopefully) claiming that elusive TV Title. I’m still hopeful of a good run at Blackpool.

Dave Chisnall: Euro 2024 Preview

At least there’s plenty of football to go at, and the Englishman was struggling to know who to cheer for between Germany and Scotland on Friday! I do think this England squad is blessed with so much quality in the final third, we should be winning this tournament.

I may be talking through blind optimism and national pride but I do think England will give Serbia a pasting on Sunday night. Nobody says anything because they don’t want to jinx it I think, but look at our squad! We’ve got the Player of the Year from England (Foden), Spain (Bellingham) and Germany (Kane) and so much class going forward. I think we’ll beat them 4-0, which is 12.0 with kwiff, and hope Cole Palmer gets a start up front. It would be him, Foden and Bellingham behind Kane for me with Rice and Alexander-Arnold in the middle of the park. Tell me how that side doesn’t win the Euros!

Take it easy, and speak next week. Chiz x
