Dave ‘Chizzy’ Chisnall is back to reflect on his agonising miss, after crashing out of the PDC World Darts Championship 2025 against Ricky Evans at Alexandra Palace on Monday.
Chizzy: Huge Semi-Finals Predictions 2025
I’ve enjoyed a good Christmas with the family and over-indulged a little to say the least. I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions, but I’m going to try and get in better nick for 2025 – I think the Quality Street can be put away for another 12 months! The loss last week to Ricky (Evans) at Ally Pally is still a bit sore, but you’ve got to take it on the chin. The annoying thing is, the average was good and I think my game is still in good shape despite a few shocking missed doubles.
Chizzy: Near Misses
I should have been two sets up, but narrowly missed the bull for the ‘big fish’ and even more annoying is missing Double Top to win the sudden death set 5-3. But that’s darts, and it will be annoying me for the few weeks after, but as soon as the new season gets into full swing it just goes into the history books and forgotten about until next year’s World Championship comes round again.
Age is catching up with me now, I’m 44 going onto 45 and I don’t know how many years I’ve got left. I’ve got to make the most of it, and got to enjoy it. So it will be a case of keeping an eye on the last few games of this year’s Worlds and then getting back onto the practice board.
Chizzy: Premier League 2025
I think Chris Dobey and Stephen Bunting have secured a Premier League spot by getting to the last four, and so they should after an excellent year for both. It’s hard to weigh up who gets a spot and – people keep reminding me that I’m ranked 6 in the Order of Merit – I think I’ve got no chance getting a spot based on what I’ve done in TV competitions this year and rightly so.
Chizzy: Huge Semi-Finals
The two matches tonight look phenomenal semi-finals and I think my good pal Steve Bunting and his Bunting’s Army can derail the Luke Littler express at Ally Pally. I know Peter (Wright) wasn’t 100% on it last night but Steve was mustard, especially on his favoured Double 16 and I just think he’s now got the confidence to go all the way. It could be his time.
In the other semi-final, I think the experience of MvG should see him past Chis Dobey en route to another Worlds Final. Michael and Callym (Rydz) had a quality game yesterday and I think that game – in spite of defeat – could be the making of him. He’s a big scorer but just missed big doubles. You can’t do that against Michael, and he won so many sets at 2-2. He’s so clinical.
I think he beats Chris and goes onto the final to hopefully play Steve. The job he and his team have done the last year or so in building his fanbase on social media has been brilliant, and the memes would be amazing if he wins! I think he wins the big one and parades the trophy at Anfield on Sunday.
Happy New Year and … Let’s go Bunting Mental!
